Seacliff State Beach
Overview
Seacliff State Beach offers a quintessential California coastal experience, famous for its long stretch of sandy beach and the historic SS Palo Alto cement ship. This park is unique because the RV sites are situated directly on the pavement adjacent to the sand, providing unparalleled access to the Monterey Bay. It is a destination that focuses on natural beauty, offering a rare opportunity to park your rig just steps from the surf and the rhythmic sound of the Pacific.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the charming community of Aptos, just a few miles south of Santa Cruz, the park is nestled at the base of dramatic coastal bluffs. The setting within the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary ensures a rich marine environment where visitors often spot dolphins, sea lions, or migrating whales. The proximity to local markets and quaint eateries in Aptos Village adds a layer of convenience to this scenic ocean-front retreat, balancing seclusion with accessibility.
Amenities & Park Features
The RV camping area at Seacliff is designed specifically for self-contained vehicles. While the sites typically do not offer full hookups, the beachfront paved sites provide some of the best views in the state. Facilities include clean restrooms and showers, along with a seasonal visitor center that highlights the area's maritime history. Designated fire rings are often available on the sand, allowing for traditional evening gatherings under the stars right next to your vehicle.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Exploring the long promenade is a favorite pastime for many visitors looking for a scenic walk. For a change of pace, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk offers classic seaside thrills just a short drive up the coast. Those seeking a forest experience can visit the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, which features miles of trails through towering redwoods. Fishing from the pier remains a popular activity for those looking to catch surf perch or enjoy the sunset.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for travelers who prioritize direct ocean access over high-end resort amenities. It is a perfect match for beachcombers, photographers, and those with self-contained RVs who appreciate a minimalist, nature-focused setup. If you enjoy the simplicity of coastal living and want to wake up to the panoramic views of the water, Seacliff is a premier choice for a memorable California road trip.

Great local beach to catch the sunset. Visited and walked down the beach from upper parking of state beach. Nice staircase to walk down and back up. You can even view sunset and sit down to have a glass of wine eat a picnic :-)

I have been visiting this beautiful beach for years now. It’s so beautiful and so relaxing! 😎 it’s away from most tourist areas and had a nice family vibe. It’s usually more quiet after the Labor Day holiday. I come here to fish and relax with the family. If you are looking for food there’s a few places nearby pizza, Mexican food, and a pub! There are other places on the other side of the freeway as well.

Very nice beach, clean and family friendly. You need to pay $10 parking fees. You can park next to the beach and the parking lot that you see next where you pay it is an over flow parking if you didn't find parking down next to the Beach you can go up again and park there and use the stairs to go down. Bathrooms are clean and there is a lot of bathrooms. Also there is a picnic tables first come first serve with shade they are amazing.

Clean, narrow beach. Got video of a juvenile humpback whale feeding just offshore! At least two of the bathrooms are closed for maintenance (June 2025). Lots of picnic tables, many need maintenance. Amazing views from upper parking lot. Seals and otter play in the surf, and you can sometimes spot a young Great White shark.

Easy to get to. Family friendly. The ship wreck makes a great photo backdrop. Good place to walk the dog or bring the kids. Wasn’t too crowded. A couple of ways down to the beach. One not so bad with a few stairs. One with lots of stairs from the parking lot.
