Seminoe

Overview

Seminoe State Park offers a rugged and serene getaway for travelers looking to escape the hustle of the interstate. Situated against the backdrop of the Seminoe Mountains, this park provides a unique high-desert experience characterized by vast blue waters and dramatic rock formations. It is a destination where the silence of the Wyoming plains meets the gentle lap of the reservoir, creating a peaceful atmosphere for any RVer looking for a true back-to-nature experience.

Location & Surroundings

Located approximately 34 miles north of Sinclair, Wyoming, the park feels worlds away from the nearby industrial hubs. The drive leads you through the sweeping Sagebrush Steppe, where you are likely to spot pronghorn and mule deer along the horizon. The park sits on the edge of the Seminoe Reservoir, an expansive body of water created by the Seminoe Dam, offering a stark, beautiful contrast to the surrounding arid and mountainous terrain.

Amenities & Park Features

While the setting is primarily rustic, the park provides essential facilities for self-contained RVs. Travelers will find paved boat ramps that provide easy access to the water for a day of recreation. The campgrounds, such as North Red Hills and Sunshine Beach, offer designated sites with access to vault toilets and a centralized dump station. While hookups are limited, the draw is the proximity to the shoreline and the spacious layouts that accommodate varied rig sizes.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The reservoir is a premier destination for walleye and trout fishing, attracting anglers from across the region. Boating and jet skiing are popular during the summer months, while the nearby Miracle Mile stretch of the North Platte River offers world-class fly fishing. For those who prefer land-based adventures, the surrounding mountains provide opportunities for rugged hiking and observing diverse Wyoming wildlife in their natural habitat.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for self-sufficient RVers who value natural beauty over resort-style luxuries. If you enjoy dry camping or have a robust solar setup, the solitude here is unmatched. It is a perfect fit for outdoor enthusiasts and families who want to spend their days on the water and their nights under some of the darkest, star-filled skies in the American West.

Very nice area. However the wind and storms made us pack up and head home to Casper, after our tent was tore to shreds. Great area for children to enjoy fishing (walleye), as well as swimming.

Not a bad little state park. The water was really low when we went but I'm sure it's up now since it's summertime! A few hidden gems within the park and the dam is really cool!

This park is a hidden gem in the mountains north of Sinclair, Wyoming. Accessed either from Casper or Sinclair, you will have to drive a ways, sometimes across country dirt roads to get there, but I guarantee it will be worth it. The park is set in a bowl of sorts, with tall mountains to the north, west and south, and the deep (200+ feet) lake to the east, essentially. Reportedly good fishing for trout, walleye and others, plus a lot of lake to recreate in other ways, if you don't want to fish. It can get really windy, so be aware of that when paddle boarding or kayaking. All State Park rules apply here while in the park, of course, so please be aware of them. The camping sites can get full really quick, so make sure you get a reserved spot at your earliest opportunity. Some day use picnic areas are also available.
