River access is beautiful, but the camp host is horrible. He hardly did his job cleaning the restrooms but yet constantly drives around looking for something to say and women to talk to. I just hope all the money he was charging for early access was not getting pocketed. The old host, who was way better, never charged for getting there an hour early.

Only good thing about this campground is the river access. Pit toilets are under maintained- if you think porta pottys are bad, imagine 8x the volume baking in a tank for months on end. Wind carries the stench to neighboring sites. Camp host is nosey- does everything but his job. Walks around flashing his headlamp into everyone's site multiple times a night, yet when quiet hours came at 10pm, he ignored the people playing loud music so he could sit at a campsite with two extremely drunk women who were alone. Beyond that, there were campsites that were in clear need of repair- picnic tables that were broken, which have seemingly been a problem from a long time, given there's a review about it months ago. Seems like the camp host makes his rounds looking with women to flirt with instead of making the campground better for it's guests. Would not return here again, given the amount of options in the area.

Terrible spot... We couldn't even sit at the picnic table. I spoke with the groundskeeper and showed him the pics and he said he wasn't authorized to fix anything without approval. He also said that he knows things need to be repaired at the campground but can't do anything until the say-so is yes... I don't blame this guy, it's not his fault... The place is outright disappointing... Better off at Headquarters...

We love Goldledge and all of Kernville. We look forward to camping there every year. The bathrooms are a little funky sometimes but you're camping amd roughing for a couple of days. Enjoy the river, the family bonding and memories.

I loved that we had the option of chilling at the water by our site or going to the swimming hole. The water was so chill this year it was an easy innertube ride down the river into the swimming hole. (But most summers I do not recommend going down the river without a life vest.)I jumped off the rock! That was fun! But I highly recommend plugging your nose. I got all waterlogged which made the experience less fun. Campsites are close in proximity but not stacked on top of eachother. The walk-in sites go over seriously rocky terrain making a simple wagon difficult to pull!! They are also very far from the bathrooms.. The plus side of the walk-in sites is privacy from the main road. Especially if you're bad like me and my friends and are noisy late into the night and building small fires hoping no one sees LOL... Nice spot, not too much shade. Bring your canopies, lots of sunblock, and bug spray& centinela candles! The campground host is pretty easy going. There isn't much space for extra cars to park on-site, but there is free parking at the turnout across the road.

Warning: paranoid mom/avid camper review. The river is beautiful and user friendly if you don't mind sharing it with tons of super drunk and careless campers. I just found out it is called "killer Kern" due to the number of deaths because of the undercurrent. Not every spot has shade and if you go in the summer, it is a scorcher. The bathrooms are horrid. It is one thing to have an outhouse, it is quite another to have an outhouse that hasn't been emptied in months. Gross. Also, there is no ranger, just a "host" who doesn't enforce any curfew and our neighbors drank and partied until 3 a.m. No reception for cell phones and no hospitals nearby.
