I am a beginner camper - this was my second trip ever and the first that I had planned on my own. It was an incredible experience. The views of the mountains literally brought me to tears. I want to provide some info for anyone who might be planning a trip to Wishon campground (which you need to do) First of all, late spring/early summer was a great time to go. There were so many wildflowers and it was just so lush. The weather reports (I looked at Porterville and Springville) were not accurate and it got much colder at night than expected and it did not get very hot during the day. The campground has quick access to awe inspiring views and springtime made them even better. Some websites and reviews said no potable water. As of May 2026, there is potable water. There are actually numerous spigots around the campground and you are never far from one. I’m pretty sure it’s just seasonal. There are vault toilets and some are wheelchair accessible with paved ramps into them. There are a lot of toilets overall actually, so you don’t need to wait for them or anything. There was toilet paper in them most of the time but I would recommend bringing your own. Trash and bear containers provided. The site we stayed in (14) felt very private. Several sites were well covered, specifically the ones on the opposite side of the campground from the river. The sites adjacent to the river and on the inside of the loop were not well covered and had little privacy. They were pretty closely packed. One thing to note is that some sites have grates on the fire rings and others (like ours) had something to hang pots from over the fire, but it did not have a grate over it. I didn’t see a place to buy firewood, but I may have just not noticed it. Bring your own probably. Bring water shoes for sure. There are plenty of places to access the river, and it was fun to wade through it. The campground was moderately crowded and it was mostly families with children. We ran into pretty much no one because we were opposite the river, but it was very densely packed and quite loud over there. We got a little confused about where to hike. We went in the direction of Doyle springs not understanding that it is not a hiking area and is actually just a neighborhood haha. We accidentally took a perilous hiking trail (attaching an image of the signage leading to it) adjacent to the neighborhood and had to turn around. There is a very easy gravel road hiking path that has INCREDIBLE views. The road is Forest Route 20S03. AllTrails navigation setting clearly marked it for us. There were a lot of snakes in the rocks along the river. So just watch your step. I’m personally very scared of mountain roads and have a small, kind of weak car. I was stressed about the drive. It was definitely windy, but the road up the mountain is in good condition and not too steep. We arrived around 7:30 pm and left around the same time on another day. There was no one else on the road so we took it slow and it went fine. I have a 2 door 2013 Honda civic and it had no trouble getting there. Overall an amazing experience. I will 100% go back.

Got into the campground late and got lost in the dark. The campground attendants were soooo helpful and showed me my campsite and helped me back my trailer in. The bathrooms are decent and there’s plenty of them. The sites are spread out and you have enough privacy to explore your site. You can also swim directly from the campground!!!! There’s multiple river spots.

Beautiful well kept campground. There are lots of trees on site, with a picnic table and fire pit. Walking distance to small store with the friendliest people to assist you. I'd give it 5 stars out of 5. Definitely will be going there again. Just an fyi, if using maps on your phone for directions, make sure you enter Wishon Reservoir, not Wishon. They are 2 distinctly different places, as we learned.

Not a single complaint for this site!! It was everything I expected it to be (minus the fishing, which has nothing to do with the campsite) and more!! The camp site host Randy (and his sweet pup) were amazing and contributed to my experience being even better...such a friendly gentleman and willing to give a hand if you needed anything. I picked site #35 and it was SUPER roomy and big, perfect for your family if you’re going as a group...lots of trees for shade and amazing location if you wanted to have a short walk to the river. No running water for this visit (didn’t need it anyway) but maybe during other seasons they turn it on. Vault restroom was always stocked with toilet paper, nice and clean too! There was a spot a little passed the 208 road (to enter for the campsite) off the 190 that had some phone service coverage if you had Verizon...you just have to pay attention to your phone...safe spot too on the side of the road. I’m already planning my next visit to Wishon! Thanks again to Randy for allowing us to really enjoy this site and for his constant hospitality!!

Lovely camp, almost empty in January. Many spots scattered around, each with a table and a fire pit. We enjoyed camping under beautiful oaks.

Just got back from Wishon campground, had an awesome time celebrating my wife's birthday. Campground itself was pleasant and included all the amenities we needed, the host was nice enough, and there was plenty to do in the area. Highlight was driving back down Wishon dr. toward the 190 hwy and working the trails along the side of the road next to the camper info signs. Each trail was a short trek to the Tule river crammed with awesome little spots to wade, jump around, lounge, and even a natural rock slide. Would go again.

My family just came back from two nights of caamping and it was one of the best times we had. The giys caught thier limit on trout! We are definitely planning to go back.

Loved exploring this campground! Fun creeks to hike along and nice watering hole. My BF caught 4 fish! Our camp host, Nicole, was super sweet and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. We will be back!

Awesome campground. Clean and well kept. Camp host was friendly and informative. All sites are located within walking distance of the Tule River which has lots of good swimming areas. Most sites are very well shaded as well.

Great place to camp off the normal beaten path. Fairly quiet at night. There is no Verizon or T-Mobile service but there is Verizon service 3/4 of a mile back down from the entrance. There are clean vault toilets and good amount of TP. The trails surrounding the campsite are currently in need of work, but you can do some scrambling​ around. You are also Cleanliness 9/10 Secluded 9/10 Toilet 10/10 Water 10/10 Double car sites 10/10 Price 8/10 Fire ring 7.5/10(double site)
