Lovely rustic park. It's pretty quiet area. Camping area has spots for campers and tents. Very basic, with outhouse. It's a pretty park to walk around, it has some level changes with a creek and playground for kids to play. You can reserve your campsite online.

The horse trails are good. The staff tends to clean up downed trees pretty fast. You have the option of wooded trails or open prairie trails. There are several water crossing for horses. I have camped here. I wish there was electricity available to horse campers, instead we have to run generators all the time. I like how close it is to just go over for a quick ride.

By far, my favorite park in Northern Illinois. It's not huge but the place is absolutely beautiful. Come during the fall for the best experience. Camping, events, photos are perfect for this location.

A beautiful place for camping, hiking & enjoying the outdoors. The kids enjoy playing in the creek.

Nice campground just outside Rockford IL. Some pull through paved sites. Most are grass sites but have electrical hookups. No water at sites but available throughout the campground. Beautiful forested area. We stayed for an overnight as we were passing through and it was very peaceful. Discount available for ages 62+

Stayed for 3 nights Very clean place. Campsites are set up nicely.. Woodsy atmosphere. There is a path you can take down to a small stream. The back road leads to an overlook, which will be picturesque and gorgeous in the fall.Weather was perfect. Will come back.

I always loved going here with my children. After they were grown, Winnebago County Forest Preserves decided to raise rates, and tack on an out of county fee. I can actually camp for much less (with Senior Discount) at Rock Cut, and have a shower house and a lake. Miss this place, but it is not "Social Security friendly".

Enjoyed a quiet, beautiful hike. Scenic, we saw about six deer and a gorgeous stone bridge. The only suggestions would be better maps and trail markings. Gravel on trail would be nice.

The campground is clean, well maintained and has firewood on site. The camp host is very friendly and helpful. Several clean outhouses are really nice. Spaces are large and great for groups. Unfortunately to many people use it as a frat house and blast extremely loud music, party and scream into the night. Most of the people want to relax but the few idiots ruin it for everyone. Each time I've been here there's been at least 1 or 2 large rowdy groups.

Best place around! Even better than rock cut, the bathrooms are cleaner, and the roads much better! Less bugs than hononegah, and cheaper than any of the other big ones. If I had one complaint, it was that there was absolutely no light in the handicapped bathroom. I know the light outside is supposed to be enough, but not for a 5 year old, or old ladies that get up 3 x a night. Have a heart on that one. I know yall do your best with the budget, and it shows, but still... Other than that, will come back all 3 seasons we camp! Well just remember to bring our flashlights! You've got a new cheerleader!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’– Update: out again this year! Lovely as always! Big fan of winnebago county camping! Best in the area!๐Ÿ˜ŽโœŒ๐Ÿ’—
