The park is great, the campground is just okay because it frequently turns away campers, looses money and wont honor the website saying walk in only within 72 hours. So my family goes home instead of camping all weekend. The park begs for money while turning away campers. This park needs help at the managerial level. I spoke to the deputy director of the park and he wasn't even aware of the policy because he's new. Even after verification of the site being empty he still chose to let it sit empty because he's the "new guy". This is sad to see such a wonderful park ran this way. Stop asking the public for money when you turn it away constantly.

Very nice park with a boat rental place. We took a pontoon out on the lake and walked some of the trails. Lots of birds and wildlife! Outdoor toilets are not the best...not the worst I've ever seen, but honestly just go to the boat lunch if you have "business" to attend to. Other than that nothing bad to say about this park

Nice area with a 6 mile hiking trail you can take around the lake over the dam, through wooded areas and then the campground. Great place for fishing or kayaking/canoeing. Always a pleasant diversion from urban living.

It's a beautiful serene place. If you are looking for a great outing and a picnic place, you should definitely visit Shabbona Lake State Park. There is a nice restaurant which serves local drinks and great food. You can rent a bass boat or a speed boat. Also, there is a bait shop, and you can do fishing too. There is a campsite too and you can also enjoy your barbecue in the picnic area. Overall, it was a wonderful place to be outdoors, and I recommend you to visit once.

What a quiet peaceful place to spend a day or stay at in the RV Park or a cabin. They have a restaurant here, baitshop, boat rentals, kayak rentals, boat launch, trails to walk, and a country atmosphere. I have been going here since it first opened. Great fishing opportunities. There is a 9.9 HP limit on the lake. I love this place.

Rented a kayak for the first time. Cheapest rental prices around. Calm lake for lazy kayaking. Friendly employees, nicely stocked bait and tackle shop and a restaurant on the premises. Great park.

Best fireworks in years! Thanks to all the volunteers that put the show together, it was beautiful! The reflection of the lake was stunning!

It's a real amazing place to fish , there's just one thing that really plays into enjoying fishing at Shabbona ,if your on the shore you have to go fishing on a light breeze day. When you do end out going fish on the shore with a normal breeze you'll have a 50/50 chance to catch something . The only time that those rule don't apply is when you have a boat or when there's a certain fishing season like Crappie season or Walleye season. I'm soon to be getting a boat I'll be giving a new review when I have some info on fishing with a Boat at Shabbona .
