We moved to the Plattsburgh area in late August and stayed at Shady Oaks for a couple of months while buying a house in the area. Jon and all the rest of the folks have been super welcoming and accommodating! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and they have been doing so much work to fix it up even more. There are a lot of full hook-up sites, and some tent sites as well. They are spread out nicely and there are so many big, beautiful trees that you don't feel crowded. On many Friday nights there is live music and great food trucks! We love it here and are looking forward to coming back next season!

If you are reading a review prior to last year, don’t. Under new ownership, Jon has done a phenomenal job with Shady Oaks. We had never camped here before because honestly, it was pretty run down. We had a seasonal site here this year and were so happy with our experience- we’ve signed up for next year. It’s safe, quiet, clean, and the events are so fun!

We absolutely loved our stay at Shady Oaks! Our site was level, private, and had excellent Wi-Fi. The laundry room was spotless with efficient machines, and the showers were clean with plenty of hot water and great pressure, such a treat! Jon, the owner is kind, welcoming, and just genuinely awesome. The renovations and upgrades he’s done are impressive, and he shared there are more to come! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Shady Oaks to anyone!

Clean well maintained campsites. Has a little store and firewood for sale. Quiet and peaceful. Good quiet location. Good shady sites. A pleasure to meet the new owner, the place has come a long way from being run down, as it was under the previous owner. If you want to get out and camp in a quiet location out of town this is the place. We returned to Shady Oaks around the end of August for another camp out because we so much enjoyed our first stay. It was easy to decide to go back. The new owner, Jon, is very friendly, and his work on renovating, organizing the grounds, and keeping it clean and nice is evident. It is truly a quiet and relaxing spot to get away to. Close to Plattsburgh for all the shopping and restaurants there, and about five minutes from the lake. We like it very much and would suggest camping there to anyone.

Very nice campground under new ownership. Full hookups at each site with plenty of shade. John the new owner is aggressively working on improvements which will make it even better. Good municipal water pressure (not a well) with 30 amp electric hookups. New 50 amp service is being installed on many sites as I type this. Live music last night with a food truck serving hand made pizza. Campsite had firewood ready for us to use on our site. Highly recommended!

I should have read the reviews before I make a reservation here. The owner is extremely rude. There was no buddy in the campground when we there, should have been my first clue. We tried to stay and extra night to avoid hurricane Henri. He swore at me said I was speeding all over the place and not obeying his 5 MPH speed limit. It's impossible not to with the speed bumps he has all over the place. We happy went a mile down the road to an RV Resort. DO NOT STAY HERE! I'll also echo the other comments on low voltage. It really drops when any major load is turned on in the RV.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The man is so incredibly rude. He started screaming at me as soon as I said why I was calling. He then proceeded to call me stupid because I had to cancel a reservation and requested a refund. He hung up on me and when I called back he continued to scream at me and refused to listen to anything I had to say. He treats people horribly. My best advice stay away.

About the worse campground I've been to in the last 30 years. The showers are grungy, the bathroom sink is missing water. The owner/ manager is a very grumpy old man. Do NOT RECOMMEND.

Super nice man had a Shady place all to ourselves. Hey I thought he was a super nice man until he called me a b****raise the price on us for the second week we never had a picnic table and I think he wanted our spot for somebody else so because we got to picnic table today before we left. The pool was not working. The voltage was low so our air conditioner had trouble running.
