Shakers Acres RV Park
Overview
Established in the heart of the Alberta parkland, Shakers Acres RV Park offers a unique blend of rural tranquility and city convenience. Situated on the western edge of Edmonton, this family-owned property has been a staple for travelers for decades. It provides a peaceful retreat from the urban bustle while keeping guests within minutes of major provincial attractions. The park is well-maintained and provides a classic camping experience with plenty of mature trees and open spaces that reflect the natural beauty of the Canadian prairies.
Location & Surroundings
The park is strategically located near the intersection of Highway 16 and Anthony Henday Drive, which provides easy highway access for big rigs and heavy trailers. Despite its proximity to major transportation routes, the surrounding area retains a pastoral, country feel, offering a quiet buffer between your campsite and the city. This location serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the greater Edmonton capital region, allowing for quick travel to both the downtown core and the scenic outskirts of the city.
Amenities & Park Features
Guests can choose from a variety of site types, including spacious pull-through stalls that easily accommodate larger motorhomes. Most sites feature full hookups with reliable 30 or 50-amp service to meet modern power needs. On-site facilities include a clean laundry room, private hot showers, and a convenience store stocked with basic supplies and snacks. For those traveling with children, the outdoor playground provides a safe space for recreation, while the park-wide Wi-Fi ensures travelers can stay connected during their stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The most significant draw for visitors is the park's proximity to the West Edmonton Mall, one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in the world. Beyond shopping, nature enthusiasts can explore the extensive trail systems of the North Saskatchewan River valley. Additionally, the park is a convenient distance from the Edmonton Valley Zoo and the TELUS World of Science. During the summer months, guests are perfectly positioned to enjoy Edmonton’s famous festival season, which celebrates everything from fringe theatre to international food.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an excellent choice for families and vacationers who want to experience Edmonton’s top-tier shopping and entertainment without staying in a congested city center. It is also well-suited for retirees or seasonal travelers looking for a reliable, big-rig friendly environment with modern conveniences. The mix of short-term and long-term sites creates a diverse community atmosphere, making it a welcoming stop for anyone embarking on a cross-country journey through Western Canada.
