The place is well maintained and convenient. It is not easy to find a camp site in Nov in MA. But Area 2 is near the Route 6 so it is a little noisy.

We had a lovely weekend camping at Shawme-Crowell State Forest! The location is super convenient, and the forest itself is beautiful — peaceful, well-maintained, and a perfect Cape Cod getaway. A couple of small suggestions for improvement: The bundled firewood is wrapped in plastic, which feels unnecessary and out of step with the park’s conservation focus — paper wrapping or twine would be much more eco-friendly. The bathroom light bulbs are extremely bright and visible from the Group 3 campsite at night; softer, yellow-toned bulbs would make a big difference for preserving the nighttime forest feel. Overall, though, it’s a wonderful spot that we’ll definitely return to!

I had a blast during my 4 days 3 nights trip to Shawme-Crowell State Forest. As expected from state forest campsites, they don’t disappoint but reservations or bookings are required beforehand, they don’t accept walk-in service. Access to groceries are pretty high so you’ll find yourself close to Starbucks, Dunkin’, Market Basket, and more. Compared to Nickerson State Park this has more access to good amount of stores!

Great campsites amongst tall trees with fire rings and picnic tables. They serve all types of campers, tents, and overland vehicles. They have a store. WOOD. ICE.

Lovely quiet state forest campground with spacious, secluded sites with dry sandy floors. Picnic table and fire ring only. RV spots are limited and back-ins can be tight. No hookups but there are several water spigots by the roads.

Very private campground. You will hear the highway at night, which doesn't bother me. I love staying here but I wish they would update their older bathrooms. The staff here are awesome.

Finally pulled in here, just for a short dog walk in the woods. The ranger at the gate was extremely welcoming and eager to help. The grounds were in great condition, and we had a nice walk on some single track. I'll definitely check it out again.

My favorite campground on the cape. Huge area and lots of nice sites. Close enough to grocery stores for easy resupply. Location is perfect as basecamp to do some in-depth cape exploration, but is nice enough that spending your days relaxing at the campground is lovely in and of itself. Do a little research on the sites. There are many which are tucked away in little nooks that make it feel like you're by yourself. Most of area 1 is bordered by a green buffer that gives a nice feeling of isolation. Depending on what time of year and what time of the week you go, be prepared for terrible cape traffic. If you go early spring or fall, your chances of avoiding traffic are much better. Also, avoid holidays if at all possible.
