Not as accessible to the sandy beaches of Lake Angostura but you still have the rock beach right by the campsite, which is very nice. Good stone skimming! Quiet. Not a lot of campers here at all when all other campgrounds around the lake are full. Vault toilets are average but you can drive a mile on down to the Sheps canyon rec ground for nicer toilets and showers. Amazing stars. Another successful trip to the Black Hills and western South Dakota.

One word, breathtaking. We had such a blast here and the relaxing environment made it that much better. Bring plenty of ice and get ready to have some fun. Plenty of things to do on or by the water and the area is clean and presentable. My favorite part was the storm that rolled in, wow! what a place to enjoy that part of nature!

Cabin was cleaned and easy to find within the park. The cabin bed mats were wiped down but smelled heavily of wet dog. So much so that the smell stuck on our blankets at the next campground. There was no information available for late check-in (arrived around 7:00 pm) and didn't know how to unlock cabin. Figured it out, but frustrating to not have anyone on-site to contact. The park is near another community living area that gets rather loud at night. The main campground bathrooms were maintained but very out of date. We've stayed at several South Dakota state parks and recreation areas and this one has been the least impressive. Site map showed the cabin was on water, but definitely was nowhere near water. Disappointed the maps and site weren't more current.

This is a very nice state camp ground sites are very deep with good it looks to be new there where a lot of young tree so not very much for shade right now but there will definitely be when the tree that are planted grow. Clean facilities nice playground and boat launch as well.

We stayed at the pay campground for 5 nights. They supply electric only, a dump station with potable water, flush toilets and showers, and a boat ramp. The park is nice, although it is a six mile drive on a dirt road to get there. It is a beautiful drive though. The bathroom/shower lock for individual use, which was nice. They were also clean. We then moved to the dry camping spots around the lake. Beautiful views, but very crowded on the weekend. We were surrounded by some inconsiderate people that were loud, let their dogs roam, chain saw late into the night and fireworks, despite the fire ban. It seemed to be the case throughout most of the park. Probably wouldn't try dry camping here again, at least not on the weekend.
