The new managers are absolutely amazing. So glad they have new ones for many reasons. They are kind people and will go out of their way to accommodate their campers. They're more than happy to deliver your wood to your site, the bathrooms/showers are cleaner than they ever have been in all the years we've camped here. The sites are always well maintained, the grass, fire pits, tree branches, etc. I can't say enough nice things about this campground and the managers. Thank you for being lovely people!!!! 😊

We stayed at Sherwood Forest Campground recently for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. It is located on Lake Ore-B-Gone which had been an old mine. Now it is a recreational area for swimming, boating, fishing and scuba diving. The grounds of Sherwood Forest were immaculate. Our site (29) had plenty of space with full hook ups, and we had a view of the lake. There are sites with a full lake view. The campground was approx 2/3 full and very quiet most of the time. Some seasonal sites as well. Many people camping had off road vehicles as the area has some famous trails nearby. The Masabi Bike trail is also next to the campground which provides miles and miles of biking. There are several additional fees (reservation, service, pet), even with that, we would definitely return. It was worth it.

The campground is a great location for starting a bike ride on the Mesabi trail. I prearranged to arrive after dark to my rustic campsite. Check-ininfo was waiting for me to grab upon arrival. I pitched my tent, then enjoyed a few beers at two local pubs, walking distance from the campground. In the morning, I used their Wi-Fi to conduct a morning business meeting at a picnic table, packed up my tent, and started my bike ride to Tower, Minnesota. I left my car in the nearby parking spots for the Mesabi trail.

So upset. We stayed there and left a night early and they charged us a $35 cleaning fee saying that we left garbage in the fire pit of our site. My husband and I cleaned our site before we left and made sure the site was clean when we left. Someone must have put something in our fire pit after we left and now we are getting charged with it. I called the campground about it and explained them that we left our site clean so we aren’t sure why we are getting a charge and lady I spoke to said she would check with her husband. She never called me back or resolved the issue. Now I have to go through the trouble to dispute with my bank to get this cleared up. I had no idea I would be scammed by a campground. We will not be staying here again.

Sherwood Forest is an awesome Campground on the edge of tiny Gilbert Minnesota. It's a beautiful little town and Sherwood Forest Campground and it's aqua park has something for everyone. Whether you're swimming or scuba diving, kayaking, or laying in a hammock like I am right now taking in the fresh air, this is a nice, family-oriented, very peaceful campground. I'm going to start exploring the underwater park that has everything from a bus to a helicopter to a Jeep and several other things. It's a great training park for scuba divers just overall fun and relaxing place to go scuba diving. I highly recommend it!

Nice campground in Gilbert, MN near the ATV trails, and on a lake. Clean sites, clean air, and had firewood to purchase. We saw the northern lights when we were there.

Spent a week at Sherwood campground wheeling with some friends. Wendy the camp host was super helpful and accommodating for us. Campground was clean and the Bathrooms were spotless being freshly cleaned every morning. Firewood was delivered to the campsite. The campground has access to atv trails and the off road park. There is a gas station accessible from the trail which was convenient. The sewer water and power is a little tricky your going to want to bring some extra hoses and such. Also bring enough leveling lumber the sites for the most part are uneven. We will camp here again.

Nice campground in a beautiful setting. The Mesabi trail runs nearly through it and an excellent ATV right around the corner. They run a tight ship to keep everyone happy and not stepping on each other’s toes. Hit and miss as far the campsites being level and the electric, water and sewer (for the sites that are so equipped) are oddly placed but doable. Friendly hosts to!

Couldn't ask for a better campground. Nice bathrooms with showers. Right on the lake. Peaceful and quiet! I would definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful place over looking the lake. The lake has many under water attractions for scuba divers, nice sandy beach, Mesabi Trail and easy access to the OHV park.

Love the park on the lake. Our site was very difficult to level fifth wheel. Also, as long as we are, difficult to get in and out. Park is quiet and we'll maintained. Would come back, only ask for a different site.

In the heart of the iron range this Campground has everything you need, large sites, bathrooms with showers, play structures for the kids, access to Ore Be Gone Lake and just a short drive to Virginia MN. I have 5G reception through T moble. If your interested in understanding where the iron came from to build the car you drive this is a great place to start. Very reasonable rates and a family friendly park!
