Nice spot for a chill day with family or friends! Decent playground for kids under 12, lakeside views, and camping nearby. Also supports kayaking. Restrooms close after season, but a few are open near the dunes parking lot. Michigan recreation passport required for entry and campgrounds.

Very nice will maintained, very relaxing, the view is breathtaking, the campground fee for non-resident is $45 , $8 reservation fee , $41 annual michigan recreational fee (always expires at the end of the year regardless of the purchase day)

Silver lake and the dunes is a great place to vacation. Great places to eat, shop, and rent equipment. The state park is a bit less desirable. Bathrooms and showers were consistently dirty. Perhaps the staff cannot keep up with the campers. The people camping this week had no respect for the campground. Constantly leaving the showers and bathrooms a mess. The campgrounds consist mainly of sandy lots. The beach was excellent. My kiddos swam everyday. If I had to do the trip over, I would have chosen a private owned campground. Walked through the campground next door and surprised by the cleanliness of it.

What an amazing place. WE have been to sleeping bears dunes days before. But this one is also very nice. So many dunes. U can See this far. Awesome. And u r totally free in the dunes. WE Loved that. No entrance fee. Toilettes at the parking Lot. Many parking spots. I went there with my Family and WE all Loved it. WE will come back.

Great ORV park. Must have current ORV and Trail stickers plus either State park tab on Michigan License Plate or current Out of State resident pass. Lots of sand hills to climb and some water holes. Nice beach area also. Picnic tables, Barbecue grill, and Dogs allowed on six foot leash. Sunset on the lake is stunning.

Silver Lake State Park is an absolute gem and a must-visit destination in Michigan! The combination of massive sand dunes 🏜️ and the stunning shoreline of Lake Michigan 🌊 makes this park truly unique. The off-roading area is a total free-for-all playground—if you’re into adventure, this is the spot for you 🏁. Just be sure to have your dune flag mounted 🚩 and keep your eyes open out there—it gets wild in the best way. I had my blue Jeep Sport 💙 with me and it conquered the big hill like a champ! The views from the top are nothing short of breathtaking 🏞️. Even if you don’t have an off-road vehicle, you can rent Jeeps 🚙 or hop on a Mac Wood’s Dune Ride for an epic experience 🎢. Pack a lunch 🥪 and relax on the far side of the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan—it’s peaceful, beautiful, and feels like your own little slice of paradise 🌅. Whether you're riding motorcycles 🏍️, Jeeps, or tricked-out trucks, you'll have an unforgettable time. 10/10 recommend!

Amazing park with huge dunes, the largest ohv area east of the Mississippi, a campground on the inland lake shore and a historic lighthouse on the big lake. What more could you want? One of my favorite places to chase and photograph the Aurora Borealis in Michigan. Fantastic dark skies for meteor showers and shooting the milky way as well.

Your legs will feel the burn going up the dunes!! Once you get up the never ending mountain of sand... It is like being in the Sahara desert! Nothing but beautiful hilly sand. Our family enjoyed every moment!

I really enjoyed the experience of this state park. I happened to camp here as well as visit the dunes and visit the lighthouse. I won't go into too much detail about the campground since I'm reviewing the whole state park (not silver lake state park campground). But I will say that the campground is decent. Off of the main road, there is the check-in with some spots along the beach. Across the street there is more camping, where the majority of the camping spots do happen to be. The spots are pretty spacious for a state park. They are not too close to one another. Sliver Lake beach is beautiful. You can see the big dunes on the other side of the lake. While the beach front is not that wide, the swimming area goes out quite far, being pretty shallow all the way to the bouys. Coming from the campground, one way down the main road will take you to the dunes, the other way will take you to the lighthouse, which is located on a Lake Michigan Beach. I highly recommend the lighthouse tour if possible. It was only $8 if I recall correctly. You get a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan and the shoreline. If it's hot enough, go for a nice swim in the lake or just walk the beach. On the other side, going the other way, you can climb the dunes and/or rent dune buggies to ride. I didn't rent dune buggies but did climb one of the dunes. Definitely pretty cool. It feels like being in the desert once you are to the top. Before you get to the State Park area, the little part of Mears has a lot to offer, especially for children. Around the roundabout, there are little shops, food options, and even a little amusement park. You are also not very far from Hart and Pentwater, which are cool little cities to check out. Keep in mind that this state park is not all in walking distance. A vehicle of some sort is probably necessary if you want the full experience. Overall, between the campground, the dunes, the lighthouse, and the 2 scenic beaches of Silver Lake and Lake Michigan, this State Park is well worth the visit.

Great awesome spot went for the 2024 Jeep invasion weekend . I hope to go back next year a lot of fun very family friendly Good atmosphere everybody's going to help you get unstuck thanks to the gentleman that helped pull me out when I got stuck. it's fun it's like driving in snow but it's sand you have to let your tires down to 10 to 15 lb and put your vehicle in four wheel drive .
