Silver Lake Resort
Overview
Silver Lake Resort is a historic destination nestled in the Eastern Sierra’s famed June Lake Loop. Established in 1916, this family-operated park offers travelers a chance to experience a classic mountain retreat right on the shores of Silver Lake. It provides a perfect balance between a rustic, back-to-nature atmosphere and the essential conveniences required for a comfortable RV stay. The resort serves as a gateway to the high country, where the air is crisp and the scenery is dominated by towering granite peaks and crystal-clear water.
Location & Surroundings
The resort is situated at an elevation of approximately 7,200 feet, positioned dramatically beneath the sheer face of Carson Peak. The location is part of the scenic June Lake Loop, a horseshoe-shaped drive known for its stunning alpine lakes and vibrant fall foliage. Because it is surrounded by the Inyo National Forest, visitors are treated to an immersive wilderness experience. The park is also conveniently located near the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park, making it a strategic basecamp for high-altitude exploration.
Amenities & Park Features
While the resort maintains its historic charm, it provides modern necessities for the motorized traveler. The RV sites feature full hookups, allowing guests to stay comfortable during cooler mountain nights. On-site, you will find a well-stocked general store and a popular cafe known for its hearty breakfasts and sourdough pancakes. For those looking to get out on the water, the resort operates a marina with boat rentals. Other practical amenities include clean restrooms, shower facilities, and a laundry room, ensuring you have everything needed for an extended stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with trout fishing at Silver Lake being a legendary pursuit for many guests. Hikers can easily access trails leading into the Ansel Adams Wilderness, offering breathtaking views and rugged terrain. A short drive takes you to the surreal landscape of Mono Lake or the historic ghost town of Bodie. During the autumn months, the area becomes a top destination for photographers seeking the brilliant yellow aspens that frame the surrounding canyons and creeks.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and families who appreciate a slower pace of life and a traditional camping vibe. If your travel style leans toward fishing, hiking, and quiet evenings by the lake rather than luxury resort-style swimming pools, you will feel right at home. It is particularly well-suited for nature photographers and mountain adventurers who want a comfortable, well-equipped home base while exploring the rugged beauty of the Eastern Sierra region.

We've stayed at this resort twice. Once 5 years ago during Covid and just recently. The staff at the cafe and store were very friendly and nice. Love the pond! Lots of ducks and deer often walk through the resort. Cabins are well stocked with everything needed if you choose to cook during your stay. Generally clean though the carpet did not appear to have been cleaned since the last time we were there! They would do well to replace with wood or laminate. Bed was very soft and uncomfortable. I'm sure most guests are out fishing or hiking or exploring this beautiful area and don't care about the lodging. However we are an older couple who like to explore early in the day and come back to relax, read or play cards in late afternoon and evening. There is not any comfortable seating at the cabin.

Beautiful and peaceful spot to enjoy nature, surrounded by alpine mountains. It’s well-known for trout fishing and offers both cabins and RV sites. A quiet getaway and definitely a must-stay place!

Great price for the stay. The resort backs in you're trailer using a forklift which I liked considering it was a bit tight. The restaurant was memorable. We had breakfast and I'd recommend it. The fishing was a dream. I could go on and on about it. Overall, very satisfied.

Beautiful lake with a creek that you can kayak or paddle board up. Will definitely be back!

We have been coming here with family for years. They have Cabins, RV sites, a general store, a restaurant, boat rentals. The RV sites are tight but they will help you get into your site if needed. They have a group fire pit area for relaxing, s’mores or cooking if you like. We spend most of our time on/by the lake and hiking
