Siuslaw/Sutton Campground
Overview
Located within the Siuslaw National Forest, Sutton Campground offers a serene escape just north of Florence. This destination is defined by its lush coastal forest setting, where towering spruce and pine trees provide a secluded atmosphere for travelers. Unlike many rustic forest sites, this park blends a natural wilderness feel with convenient access to the central Oregon coast, providing a peaceful base for exploring the region's diverse landscapes.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated near Sutton Lake and the winding Sutton Creek, which meanders toward the Pacific Ocean. Visitors are surrounded by a unique ecosystem of coastal sand dunes and dense greenery. This specific location provides a perfect natural buffer from the ocean winds while remaining just a short drive from the dramatic coastline and the charming shops and galleries of historic Florence.
Amenities & Park Features
Sutton Campground stands out because it offers electric hookups at many of its sites, which is a rare and highly valued feature for a National Forest campground. Most sites feature paved parking pads, picnic tables, and fire rings, making the park accessible for a variety of RV sizes. While there are no individual sewer or water hookups, campers have easy access to shared drinking water and well-maintained vault toilets throughout the loops.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure is never far away, with the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area providing endless opportunities for hiking and photography. The iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse is located a short drive north, offering some of the most spectacular views in the state. Additionally, the Sea Lion Caves and the diverse hiking trails surrounding Sutton Lake provide plenty of daytime activities for outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience the local wildlife.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for nature enthusiasts who prefer a quiet, wooded environment over a high-traffic commercial resort. It is a fantastic choice for RVers who enjoy partial hookups while staying immersed in a forest setting. If you value privacy, easy access to hiking trails, and being close to the beach without the coastal wind, Sutton Campground is a premier choice for your Oregon coast itinerary.

Price was no too bad and we got a nice spot for couple nights. There a creek and if you’re lucky at night you can see otters 🦦. I saw a family eating fish and crawfish 🦞 as well.

We had a host jump up on a table and claim it we were being to loud no introduction as of to who he was or nothing and just started making threats and being rude for being loud 30 min past 10pm; for applauding to someone playing classical music. Camp site c says they include 20 parking permits and only actually includes 15 wanted to claim we had 6 cars since 3 days prior when it had only been 1 day and they wanted to charge for the following day and showed up to the camp site and wanted to take care of it there and then. Said they wouldn't leave till they were paid for even though each individual car that was over had to take care of there own ticket they wanted main host to take care of the whole charge. Camp c is next to a neighborhood, no camping about it what so ever just rude host. Not connecting with nature or people having a good time would honestly recommend sand camping than this. The bathrooms were clean.

Many sites at this campground have good separation of space for privacy. Clean restrooms with flush toilets & running water are always welcome amenities.

Campsites are clean and raked before you get there if you reserve online. Just an FYI there are no showers provided, but there are extra clean bathrooms. We're staying 6 days May 2025. Don't forget your citronella candles and some Off! Mosquitoes as big as an aircraft carrier and no-see-ems are plentiful too, makes for an itch party while you sleep.

Great spot - campsites are nice and green with lots of trees. Both electric and non electric options. Some campsites are quite close so your neighbors could make or break your camping trip. No direct beach access here. Drinking water is available but not to fill RV tanks so plan ahead. No sewer dump. Great hosts during our stay. A and B loops have no road noise from 101. C has a little, D has quite a bit.
