Siuslaw/Tillicum Beach Campground
Overview
Tillicum Beach Campground is a premier coastal destination within the Siuslaw National Forest. Located right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, it offers a rare combination of beachfront RV camping and lush forest surroundings. Unlike many rustic forest service sites, this campground provides a mix of standard and utility sites, making it a favorite for travelers seeking a balance between nature and convenience. Visitors often return year after year to witness the dramatic sunsets and the misty coastal mornings that define this stretch of the Pacific Northwest.
Location & Surroundings
Positioned between the charming towns of Yachats and Waldport, the campground sits on a high bluff overlooking a vast sandy beach. The surrounding landscape is defined by the rugged beauty of the Oregon Coast, featuring thick coastal spruce and hemlock trees. The proximity to Highway 101 makes it easy to find while remaining tucked away enough to feel secluded. Direct access trails lead campers down to the shoreline, where miles of beach await exploration, offering a perfectly situated retreat for those who want to experience the meeting of the forest and the sea.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features several paved RV sites, some of which include electric and water hookups, which is a significant benefit for a forest service facility. While there are no sewer hookups or showers on-site, the campground provides clean restrooms with flush toilets and potable water. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring for evening gatherings. The sites are generally well-spaced to provide a sense of privacy among the trees, though the oceanfront sites are the most sought-after for their unobstructed views of the water.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure is just minutes away at the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, where visitors can hike to the Giant Spruce or witness the power of Thor's Well during high tide. The nearby town of Yachats offers local galleries, cozy cafes, and excellent tide-pooling opportunities at Smelt Sands State Park. For those interested in maritime history, the iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse is a short drive south. The drive along this section of the coast is considered one of the most beautiful in the country, with frequent pull-offs for whale watching and photography.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for nature enthusiasts who prefer a scenic, quiet environment over a high-traffic private resort. It is a perfect fit for couples and small families who enjoy long beach walks and the simplicity of federal park lands. Because of the specific site lengths and limited hookups, it best serves those in mid-sized trailers or camper vans who value oceanfront proximity and a tranquil atmosphere. It is the quintessential choice for anyone wanting to fall asleep to the rhythmic sound of the Pacific Ocean.

If you’re in a large rig, there are only a few spots that will work. Otherwise, this place is fantastic. Quiet and beautiful, with excellent beach access, and the beach itself is above average. Highly recommend this place. Otherwise, this place is fantastic. Peaceful and attractive, with excellent beach access, and the beach itself is above average. Highly recommend this place.

Scenic location along the beach, with access to the beach via stairs. The campsites were well-spaced and angled in such a way that I had a decent amount of privacy from the neighboring campers. The restroom was well-maintained and I was especially impressed by its quality. The campground is situated along the highway, so I did hear cars passing through every so often. It wasn’t too bothersome, and the ocean makes a decent amount of sound, too. I found that they blended pretty nicely. The camp host was friendly and helpful.

Three stars for our campsite in the back of the campground near the highway - very loud with highway noise. Definitely a better experience on one of the beach-front sites. Tillicum beach is beautiful and has miles of wide beautiful beach for walking and relaxing. The campground has a mixture of rustic or electric + and water sites. There are no showers and NO DUMP STATION!! Plan accordingly!

Awesome experiences. We camped here a couple of times. Our son’s first camp experience was at this location. Very convenient and easy access to the beach. Highly recommend it:

Beautiful campground, right by the beach with easy access down to the water. 4-5 sites right next to the small raised cliffs above the beach giving them an awesome overview of the beach and ocean. Unfettered views of the sunset each night. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Some campsites have water and electricity. Camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Overall it's a great campground.
