Closed even though it says open year round on the forest service website but it's awful close to the highway anyway

Definitely for experienced campers! The road is drivable with a 2WD car. Although there aren't many (if at all) sandy spots on the banks of the river, it was manageable. Especially since no one else was there. 😊

The US Forest Service is HIGHLY NEGLIGENT in their management of The People's assets. Aikens Creek campground is a great example of their failure. This place has gone downhill in a Big Way over the past couple of decades. Sadly I am disappointed.

Our sleeping bags were stolen here while we were away. Not sure what advice to give to people staying here... Lock everything up, carry a firearm. Until that happened, we were having a very enjoyable time.

This is a very nice primitive camping area that is notable for its awesome access to the Klamath river.

Not sure how many stars is correct ratings wise. The campground is just a dead end stub out road off the main road with a few help yourself campgrounds in place that don't have much forest separating them so there is no visual separation and it's certainly not Yosemite. But in the other hand it's help yourself, no fees, and has frontage on the Klamath River if you want to go fishing. River flow and riffles there are probably too strong for swimming.
