South Bay RV Campground
Overview
South Bay RV Campground offers a tranquil escape on the southern tip of Lake Okeechobee. Managed by Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation, this well-maintained destination provides a serene environment for travelers exploring South Florida. Unlike the bustling coastal resorts, this park emphasizes natural beauty and quietude, featuring lush tropical landscaping and spacious sites that allow guests to breathe in the fresh lakeside air while enjoying a slower pace of life.
Location & Surroundings
The park is perfectly situated along the Herbert Hoover Dike, providing immediate access to one of Florida's most iconic geographic landmarks. The surrounding area of South Bay is known for its vast agricultural fields and wide-open horizons. Staying here puts you right on the Florida National Scenic Trail, where the elevated views of the lake and the surrounding marshlands create a unique backdrop that is both rugged and peaceful.
Amenities & Park Features
This campground is designed for comfort and convenience, offering 72 sites equipped with full hookups including water, sewer, and electricity. Each site features a level concrete pad, making setup easy for large motorhomes or travel trailers. On-site facilities include clean restrooms, hot showers, and laundry equipment. For social gatherings, the park offers a community room and a playground, while outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the picnic tables and grills provided at every site.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with world-class bass fishing and crappie fishing just steps away. Enthusiasts can launch boats at the nearby ramp or spend the day bird watching along the levee, where herons and egrets are common sights. The Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, or Big O Hike, is perfect for long-distance cycling or walking. Nearby towns like Belle Glade and Clewiston provide local dining and a glimpse into Florida's agricultural heritage.
Who This Park Is Best For
South Bay RV Campground is ideal for avid anglers and nature photographers who want to be close to the water. It is also a fantastic choice for long-term winter residents seeking a budget-friendly and quiet alternative to crowded coastal parks. Because of the wide paved pads, it is exceptionally big-rig friendly, making it a reliable stopover for cross-state travelers looking for a secure and scenic place to rest.

This is a beautiful, quiet park with friendly staff. We drove by after hours and needed to dump the septic in our Rv. Janet was extremely courteous and kind and helped us sort it all out. If we come by here in the future we will definitely book a site! Don't forget to follow our adventures on YOUTUBE at Countryside Acres!

This is a very nice RV Park located along the edge of Lake Okeechobee. It is very well maintained and the staff is very professional and courteous. It is convenient to Clewiston, Loxahatchee and Wellington.

Made our reservation for 1 month, stayed for 5 months! Never had any issues receiving packages or mail. Most of the time the office will call you when you get a package. Free wifi that works 95% of the time. It will occasionally drop the connection, usually you can reconnect in a minute. Fast enough to stream most internet based apps. Grounds and bathhouses are always well maintained. Caretaker Rene always seems to be on top of everything and is happy to address issues quickly.
