Split Rail RV Park

Overview

Split Rail RV Park is a well-established 55+ active adult community situated in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. Known primarily as a destination for Winter Texans, this park offers a welcoming environment where long-term residents and seasonal visitors mingle. The atmosphere is centered on a socially active lifestyle, providing a comfortable home base for those looking to escape the northern cold. It blends the convenience of a managed resort with the friendly, small-town charm typical of Mission.

Location & Surroundings

Located in Mission, TX, the park sits in a region famous for its subtropical climate and rich biodiversity. The surrounding area is characterized by flat plains, citrus groves, and palm-lined streets. Positioned near the southern tip of Texas, it offers easy access to local conveniences like grocery stores and medical facilities while remaining close to the Rio Grande River. The location is ideal for travelers who enjoy mild winters and the unique cultural blend of the border region.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed to facilitate both relaxation and recreation. Guests have access to a heated swimming pool and hot tub, which serve as central gathering points during the sunny afternoons. Indoor facilities include a spacious clubhouse, a library, and a dedicated billiards room. For practical needs, the park provides full hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp service, clean laundry facilities, and paved streets. The community-led activities, such as potlucks and card games, ensure there is always a way to connect with neighbors.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Nature enthusiasts will find themselves perfectly positioned near the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, a premier destination for birdwatching. The National Butterfly Center is also just a short drive away, offering a glimpse into local wildlife. For a cultural excursion, many residents enjoy visiting the nearby border crossing to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico, for shopping and dining. Golfers can take advantage of several public courses in the Mission area, while those seeking a coastal day trip can reach South Padre Island in under two hours.

Rudest most disgusting management I have experienced that old lady manager needs to get layed because she keeps finding things to complain about

This RV (SPLIT RAIL) IS AWSOME. I'VE LIVED HERE SINCE APRIL OF 2O22 THE PEOPLE ARE VERY FRIENDLY. GWEN AND LORI THE MANAGERS go out of their way to accommodate whatever the need may be. I love this place ❤️ 💕 and so will anyone else who has the opportunity to stay here. I would recommend split rail RV before any other rv lot's in mission.

We stayed at Split Rail for a month and thoroughly enjoyed the resort. Very well kept, well stocked library and lots of activities. The heated pool was just that, heated. There was no cold water shock getting into the pool! Everyone was very friendly and we would highly recommend a stay here. An update..We stayed for 3 months this winter (2023/24) and this is the best bang-for-your-buck resort in the Valley. Friendly people, most amenities, and a great price. We’re coming back next year!

Great price and nice folks here. Sites are long but narrow. Some of the turns in the park can be difficult for large rigs. There are some nice amenities--I am especially pleased to see several community clothes lines when a lot of parks ban hanging laundry. The park is showing some age and some of the utilities and facilities need upgrading. Wifi didn't work for me in the park. It is also very close to a busy freeway so there is a lot of constant noise. Still, it's a convenient location to access and is near downtown Mission and the Butterfly Park. The reasonable price and friendly folks make the park worth a stay.
