Springfield KOA Journey

This KOA offers a country setting, a variety of cabins, and cable TV. We enjoy the quiet the country has to offer. We are a smaller park but big on fun!

Illinois' capital forms the heart of Abraham Lincoln's country. Visitors can tour the 16th president's home, law offices and Old State Capitol, where he served in the legislature. View the Lincoln Library and Museum. Pay your respects at Lincoln's Tomb. Visit the New Salem State Historic Site. Here, costumed guides recreate the 1830s town where the future president lived and worked. Head to Lake Springfield for boating and fishing.  Don't leave without getting your kicks on Route 66, where you'll find a museum, shops, motorcycle races, antique car rallies and a drive-in diner. Southeast of the city, this KOA offers a quiet country setting with Tent Sites, level Pull-Thru or Back-In RV Sites, Rustic and Deluxe Cabins. Relax at KOA's pool, and enjoy the mini golf and bike rentals. Free Wi-Fi included. If you have your pets, be sure to check out the KampK9! Holidays: 2-night minimum stay. Pool: Memorial Weekend -  Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 80 feet.

Cabins were clean. Grounds are well kept. Nice general store. With mini golf, a pool, and a small park, this place is great for a young family or grandparents taking kids out. Everyone observed quiet time restriction. Bathrooms are very nice for a camp sight or any where really. Staff was kind and understanding. Well worth the money for a small group of friends celebrating a birthday.

What a beautiful little campground - nestled into the rolling farmland and hills southwest of Springfield. Lots of wildlife to view. The staff were so helpful. We will definitely return when in the area.

The campground is very nice and the location worked out great for us. However, I attempted to take my dog to the dog park and I could smell it before we got close! I could not bare the smell, it made me queasy. I don't know if it was that the trash had not been emptied in a long time, or possibly they had just spread some ripe fertilizer. Iwas very grateful our site was not close to the dog park!!!

Needed a safe, reasonable place to stay one night as I passed through the area. Other KOAs have been underwhelming in my experience. This one, however, was great! The location was quiet and beautiful. The (tent) site was nice with a great fire pit, picnic table, ample flat area and its own parking. The bathrooms were clean with nice hot showers. I pass through the area on a regular basis and will definitely stay here again.

We loved the rural setting for this KOA -- we even saw a few deer :-) We used this campground as our home base for exploring the Lincoln sights in downtown Springfield, so coming home to the quiet/peaceful campground after a day of urban hiking and hustle-bustle was the perfect ending for the day. We visited in mid-May 2025. If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely stay here. The showers and restrooms are very clean. We enjoyed meeting and talking with the owners who stopped by our campsite to say hello.
