I really was excited about this place, but it's running down. Since the algae, they closed the beach and are not taking care of the property well. It's sad as the grounds are beautiful. The lake should be cleaned out and open for the season.

Great park and picnic areas! It has great view and really quiet area for family gatherings, the bathrooms and park areas are clean. The park ranger and police are also around, saw them couple of times in few hours. The only problem is most of the park benches and grills are really old, almost breaking. Would be nice to have them replace

UPDATE!!!: 04/23/2005 Went last weekend the park was beautiful and clean and so the weather but now there's TICKS! so be careful, first I found one on top of my sweater! two days later found one attached to my dogs head! We've been coming here for years! and never seen a tick before. So be careful with your children and pets! I added some pictures. I love this place.. Really clean and I’m not sure if it’s because the lake has been closed for a few years but it’s also never crowded. In the summer there is an entry fee. There is also grilling areas and picnic tables everywhere.

Well kept park. Was mid April and a bit cooler but had a good time. Bathrooms were clean. I was there only one night and did not use the showers, but there are some there. Definitely family friendly, I would recommend to anyone looking for a good state park. The only downside is camping spots are a bit close together.

The beach has been shut down for swimming for a number of years. You can't rent boat's anymore either, but it is a decent place for a day trip. There is a good amount of roadway and walking paths, plus you can take some beautiful pictures of the water and trees. (As I write this review and post current pictures, we have been in a drought so water level is low but it's usually much fuller and picturesque). I have stayed at the camping portion of this park numerous times. The campground is good, there are restrooms and showers available. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table, but sites with power and water available are limited. Don't delay booking a week/weekend because site availability fills quickly. There are multiple playgrounds for kids too! Also, dog's and alcohol are prohibited from the campground. NJ Parks employees are available through normal business hours for any complaints and NJ Park Police patrol at night.
