Stanley Park

Overview

Stanley Park is a long-standing family destination located on the serene shores of Lake Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island. This park offers a classic Northern Ontario experience, where the pace of life slows down to match the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore. It serves as a comfortable and welcoming home base for exploring the unique geography and cultural heritage of Spring Bay. Visitors often find that the peaceful waterfront setting provides a much-needed escape from the bustle of daily life, offering a genuine connection to the outdoors.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the heart of Manitoulin Island, the park is surrounded by lush mixed forests and the crystal-clear waters of Lake Mindemoya. The surrounding community of Spring Bay is characterized by its rural charm and proximity to some of Ontario's most pristine natural landscapes. Because Manitoulin is recognized as the world's largest freshwater island, the climate is often tempered by the surrounding lakes, creating a pleasant environment for summer RVing. The scenic lake views and vibrant sunsets are a primary draw for every traveler visiting this unique region.

Amenities & Park Features

The park provides a range of facilities designed to support a comfortable and functional stay for short-term and seasonal guests. RVers can enjoy sites equipped with hydro and water hookups, ensuring that the essentials of modern travel are well-covered. The park features several community-focused amenities, including:

  • A clean sandy beach perfect for swimming and afternoon relaxation.
  • A private boat launch and docking facilities for easy water access.
  • A dedicated fish cleaning station to handle the day's fresh catch.
  • A children's playground and spacious green areas for outdoor recreation.

These features help maintain a balance between convenience and the rustic appeal of a lakeside retreat.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park gates, Manitoulin Island offers endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Hikers frequently visit the famous Cup and Saucer Trail, which provides dramatic cliffside views of the island's limestone landscape. A short drive takes you to the stunning Bridal Veil Falls or the popular sandy boardwalk at Providence Bay. Lake Mindemoya itself is renowned for its excellent fishing, particularly for perch and walleye. Exploring the local artisan shops and seasonal markets in nearby villages adds a touch of local culture and discovery to any travel itinerary.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for families seeking a traditional summer vacation filled with swimming, boating, and outdoor play. It is also a premier choice for fishing enthusiasts who want direct, easy access to one of the island's most productive inland lakes. If you are an RVer who prefers a relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere over a high-traffic commercial resort, Stanley Park provides the perfect balance of rustic charm and essential conveniences. It is a true haven for those looking to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature and family.

What a friendly environment. I camp there for 25 yrs and I have nothing bad to say. It s a beautifull place. They have all of what you need. Darlene working at the cash would do anything to make you feel at home.

The owners, staff, and fellow campers were all welcoming and friendly. Their souvenir selection makes wonderful gifts. Got the best travel mug ever. Keeps my coffee hot for hours. My son never wants to leave.

Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended if you truly enjoy the great outdoors. Lake mindemoya is a shallow lake with plenty of sand bars. It was nice to see the multitude of kayaks. Stanley Park Campground is a unique park. I say this from the seasonal site perspective. There is the option to build a roof over their trailer and deck. Most seasonal campers here also build a sleep camp. Although there was a fire ban still in place. It didn't make much of a difference. We used a propane fire pit. There are very few mosquitos on manitoulin island.
