There was no fire ring or place to make a fire. They ate no longer a KOA but that's not a problem for me. I like the personal touch of private campgrounds.

Well, it's convenient if nothing else... Unfortunately, it's right next to Interstate 77, making it pretty noisy and not conducive to a peaceful night's sleep. Sites are small, close together and not very level. Power is not very stable, voltage dropped as low as 106... Not good for system operations, tripped the surge protector multiple times.

Very polite and professional staff. Facilities are very clean and they have a pretty nice dog park if you’re traveling with fur babies. Emma at the front desk was very helpful and informative. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Easy access from I-77. It's a really pretty park. However, if you're in a larger motorhome, you'll need to stay in one of the premium sites or site 32 (where we stayed) for a relatively level site. Site 32 has an awesome deck next to it. For the convenient location, we'd stay here again. Management was friendly and enforced the rules, which we appreciated.

We seriously regret staying at this campground. The staff were rude, unprofessional, and downright childish. From the moment we arrived, we were approached by three different workers nitpicking everything we were supposedly doing “wrong,” while other campers clearly ignored the same rules without consequence. They have a bunch of ridiculous rules, including having to pay extra for a fire pit, and they enforce them in the most disrespectful way possible. After a minor issue, a worker came back and literally threw paperwork in our faces. We were also told to take our EZ-up canopy down at 9 PM, and then harassed again at 7:45 AM, while we were just getting up with our two-year-old. Obviously, we weren’t about to take it down in the dark or first thing in the morning. Even worse, nobody enforces the 5 MPH speed limit, which is dangerous when you have small kids around. The whole place felt hostile, not family-friendly at all. We really should have looked at the reviews before booking. After reading some of the owner’s responses to others, it’s clear he’s rude and unprofessional. It claims the campground is veteran-owned, which is honestly shocking—because based on his behavior, he’s a disgrace to the title and to the community he’s supposed to represent. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This place is not worth the stress.

We stayed here 6 nights. While it offers all you really need for a place to stay, that's really all they offer. Nothing really to do for the kids as the playground was MIA, and the pool was closed (too early in the year). The grounds were well kept, site was fairly level, the water spigot had a small leak on our site (#2). The folks in the office were nice, took us right to our site when we checked in. We were in town to visit family so we really didn't spend much time at the campground.

Stayed in February 2022 Park was nice, friendly staff. Escorted us to the site. Site was just long enough for our 40' Super C MH plus Jeep toad. Would stay again for a one night pass through. One consideration, the roads are narrow and tight, maneuverable, but tight We camped at Statesville / I-77 KOA Journey in a Motorhome. Gravel Pull Through Site #D2

Not many amenities. Small park. Good for layovers. Big rig challenged

KOA Statesville journey North Carolina, is the best KOA we’ve stayed at traveling from California with Statesville as our destination. Make sure you get your reservations early, they book up every night. All the staff from check-in to parking are exemplary. With grass at every site and being dog friendly. They have several large grassy areas as well as a large and small dog park. My wife and I could not recommend this KOA enough. With gravel parking pull through sites, there’s plenty a room for your tow vehicle. Thank you Staff very much. Bruce and Linda Akers

The Good Stuff: Good location, very convenient to I-77. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There are beautiful open fields backed by trees surrounding the campground, and trees interspersed throughout. This KOA has the largest dog park of any campground I've ever stayed in. The large, fenced in dog play area includes a smaller, separate section for small dogs, and has several shaded picnic tables for the humans. In addition, there is a large, mowed field for walks. For the human kiddos, there's a small playground (with caveats, see below*), a sparkling clean pool, and decent game room. The Bad Stuff: Definitely the most run down KOA I've ever stayed in. *The playground consists of 2 swings plus a baby swing, a small sandbox (bring your own sand toys) and a small, deteriorating jungle gym. The pool is sparkling clean, but small. The bathrooms were outdated back in the 70s (but were clean). Faucets in the ladies room only stay on while you hold the handle - not great if you need to wash your face 2x daily to prevent acne breakouts. There is quite a bit of traffic noise from the highway though. Not a problem if you're in an RV or travel trailer, but I would definitely not recommend camping here in a tent. Most of the campground is lacking the gorgeous landscaping of other KOAs, however, the mowed open fields and trees around the campground are still beautiful.
