Terrible. Showed up around 9pm after driving all day. Older staff came up to us shining his flashlight directly in our eyes and wouldn’t lower it, repeating, “what’re you doing here” he was upset because we had parked on the smallest bit of grass. He then shouted that we’d have to pay for any damage to the grass. My vehicle isn’t even 4x4. He told us, “I think you boys should find another campground.” I was respectful, apologetic and calm. I’ll never stay at this campground after that experience and neither should you.

It is such a beautiful campground. I would stay here every single time! The bathrooms were always clean. We had a delightful time watching the bunnies early in the morning. I love that we had a desert view while enjoy soft green grass for relaxing and sleeping. **I didn’t realize the store is closed Sundays, I was waiting for 9am to roll around! So def read the signs! The Frenchglen country store was super helpful though, so definitely check their hours if you need ice, treats, or gifts. ****Edit to add: I just saw other reviews. Low ratings for mosquitos? That’s on you, not the campground. Pack what you need instead of blaming the hosts.

We came in early morning and got a full rv spot for overnight. The owners are awesome. The grounds are perfect for being in the middle of nowhere. They even sprayed for mosquitoes while we were there. Very few mosquitoes for being out in the middle of a very wet marshy nature preserve. Remember YOU came out here so don't complain about the bugs. Totally recommend using the great campground white exploring the steens loop other great adventures. Owners are awesome people also.

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet spot to stay, this is it! We stayed two nights in one of the modular cabins, so very peaceful! Everything was so clean! Debbie and Mark are great hosts and very helpful with any questions we had about the resort and surrounding area. Weather was unusual for the time of year, but the clouds parted long enough to see amazing stars. Now we need to come again on a dark-moon night and really see what is up there.

Nice place. Super clean bathrooms and showers. Laundry facilities were great, too. Debbie was very friendly and helpful. We were only able to stay one night, but it was quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend!

A+++++! This place is incredible! If you're coming to the Steens, you must stay at this place! We stayed in one of the cabins that was perfectly set up for our needs. They have hot water, coffee pot, kitchen, comfortable beds, and decks with gorgeous views! We didn't want to leave. Some of the reviews on here complaining about wifi and mosquitos are a bit silly - we relish the time getting out of the city and enjoying the rural Oregon wilderness. We can't wait to come back!!!! Thank you Mark and Debbie for being gracious hosts and providing such clean and nice accommodations way out here!

This place just didn't gel with us. I look at the picture on their website and the "resort" just didn't match what we saw. We love camping in the boonies, especially the high desert, but the area did not appeal to us. Friendly help from the gentleman who checked us in, laundry and restrooms were clean. Only the end spots in each site lane has grass. With all the 5 star reviews this place obviously appeals to many.

Good place to relax. Roomy camp sites. The tent sites have nice grass. Full variety of hookups available. Loved being able to do the laundry instead of going home with dirty clothes. Little book exchange and movie rentals. We used as a base camp the first few days and then we checked out the amenities at the store. The owners Mark and Debbie keep everything very clean and tidy.roomy restrooms and showers are nice.

We stayed here during our hike of the Oregon Desert Trail. I can’t recommend this place highly enough! We stayed one night in a tent spot and a second night in a cabin. The tent site was a lovely, quiet spot with a picnic table, fire pit, shade, water, and power. The restroom and showers were immaculately clean. The cabin was immaculate, quiet, private. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Super well organized and well run. A true gem—I can’t wait to come back!
