Great State Park & friendly crew working up at the office. I had an emergency on my stay & couldn't stay both days I booked. Called immediately the morning of for the second day & without hesitation the kind woman working at the office gave me a refund without question. And she was ALWAYS kind & friendly on our phone call even with all the questions I was asking. Would recommend anyone to stay if in the area.

A NICE COMPACT PARK WITH FULL HOOKUP RV SITES, HIKING TRAILS, AND OTHER AMENTIES. We stayed in the RV loop and saw that each site was a pull through with full hookups. Each site had a 30 amp service, picnic table, lantern hook, and combo fire ring/grill. There were a number of hiking trails, a playground for the kids, group shelters and dining hall, screend overnight shelters, tent camping area, and park store. The restrooms were well situated with ice and soft drink machines. We saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, and many bird species. We will return to this park in the cooler months.

Stephen F. Austin State Park is a peaceful getaway just west of Houston, perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and families. The park features well-maintained trails through beautiful hardwood forests and bottomland terrain, offering a glimpse of wildlife and serene river views along the Brazos. Campsites are spacious, and amenities like restrooms and picnic areas are clean and convenient. Whether you’re camping overnight or just visiting for a day hike, it’s a quiet, underrated spot worth exploring.

What a lovely park! We only had a chance to explore one area, and while we didn’t get up close to any water, there are definitely some nice water views and potentially spots to get closer within the park. We paid less than $10 for both my husband and me, which was a great deal! There are camping grounds available, which is fantastic. There’s an area for both tents and RVs, and I’m really looking forward to bringing our trailer one day. The little section we explored had some charming hidden gems. The park was surprisingly uncrowded, we only ran into a handful of people on the trail we chose. We can’t wait to come back!
