Stockton Lake - COE/Crabtree Cove

Crabtree Cove is an excellent option for camping on Stockton lake. Please be aware that on the A-loop, the campsites along the cliff are prone to Timber rattlesnakes. I have camped this campground for 25+ years. I learned my lesson to go out on those rocks along the bluff (up by A31). The rattlesnakes are as big as your arm, hiding under those rocks in the shade. They rush out mad when you play around them.

First time here, our family had a blast. We didn't know where we would be at on the camp ground, ended up right by the water, for our boys to go right to swimming, kinda directly in the sun, but had plenty of room for our 3 tents, loved that each campsite has a fire pit/grill and a picnic table. We had so much fun and definitely would highly recommend this place. We only paid $16, checked in Thursday at 4pm and checked out around 3 pm. But we did check out an hour early. Next time we would like to get one with electric but now we know the layout and which ones would be perfect if available!!

Oh My Gosh Yes!!! Absolutely amazing experience for all 9 of us. 7 of us were rookie tent campers and they still loved the campground, facilities, and swimming cove. The basketball court was also a highlight for the boys because it was in good condition as well. There's 2 gas stations and a Family Dollar about 10 mins away that we found quite handy. We will be back several times before winter.

My FAVORITE park from Nashville to Denver. It’s quiet on the tenting side. It’s the best camping you can get. Just wish people stop dumping their cigarettes and trash. The rangers are hard working. They get on it. Great job Missouri on this gem. I’ll be back.

Overall an amazing ab beautiful fishing and cliff diving area. Just dirty when people party there. Most clean their area and the latter do not.

It was a great shady camping spot with a nice calm quiet cove to swim in on one side and fun big rocks on the other. The sites were large with lots of room. There were little trails to the water all around. They had a playground and basketball court my son wished he had brought his basketball. The cliffs that people like to jump off was right around the corner as well as the little island called chicken rock. The water was so clear. It was a beautiful weekend and I'm glad we booked an extra 2 days. The attendance were super nice and cleaned the bathrooms every morning bright and early. There wasn't water hook ups but there was water to fill and a dump station. Also shower houses for tent campers. We will be going back again soon!

A great place to go for a walk and get out in nature. The damn isn’t far and below is a nice little dock are for fishing with another hiking trail. Also a great space for biking, a ball field to practice throwing and hitting baseballs. It’s a great area for a family looking for some outdoor activities.

This is one of my favorite places to fish of all time... The grounds are well kept they have brand new bathrooms playground areas blacktop roads and what looks wild is supposed to be wild but the camping areas are cleaner than many hotels... I like the idea that you can charge your phone from your tent... The park rangers are fabulous but I will tell you you better bring your fishing license because you will get checked... They have a small Beach area to swim... They have an RV area and some of the nicer areas are always taken unless you call to plan and reserve a spot in advance... But the fishing is great and the people are wonderful and the park staff are excellent. Remember stocking life is the hidden gem of Missouri... Not many people know about this beautiful place compared to other popular destinations throughout the United States... If you want a true back road travel experience with beautiful views.. travel down highway 32 to Stockton Missouri State Park and lake... It's an unforgettable experience... And the sun sets are beautiful.. did I mention the trade winds that run through here allows for excellent boat style sailing!!

Campsites are extremely crowded. They put 15 people on one site and then We got told we couldn't put our tent 2 feet away from our campsite because it would infringe on other campers. (It definitely was not effecting)Won't be coming back here for sure.
