We loved it here. We came in with no reservation and they went out of their way to help. We ended up in a great water and electric pull through site with lots of privacy . We really enjoyed their nightly ice cream social! It is in a great location between Leadville and Turquoise Lake. The staff and owner are great! I feel tmost of the bad reviews are unfair. True, I is not a fancy RV Resort, It doesn't call it self one! It is a campground and a wonderful one! The price was very reasonable compared to other RV campgrounds Overall a great stay!

THE DUMP STATION IS NOT ADEQUATE - there is no water available to flush residue off the ground (or fill your RV). It seems very unsanitary and unsafe. It is located immediately on the side of one of the main roads. When I took these pictures, 2 women with baby strollers had just walked over the 'dump station' - YUK! The staff tried to blame it on state regulations, bogus. 2) The 'newer' sites - back in with water and electric are in a cow pasture full of holes, slanted and very difficult to level an RV. The sites were so close together we had to have the neighbor move his truck so we could back in our trailer (23', not very big). 3) Communication is terrible if you try to call on the weekend, or Friday afternoon. The owner is gone all weekend and will not respond to emails or phone calls until Monday morning. The staff on hand is not delegated the responsibility of taking reservations. 4) The ice cream social is not 'free' as some people allude to. Price was $48/night. High for no adequate dumping facility. Pros: good water pressure. National Forest land behind our site to walk our dog. Would not stay here again.

The sites are pretty small though well maintained. There are bathroom facilities with real toilets and sinks with free showers. When we arrived Friday the bathrooms were really clean but by Sunday they were less so, particularly the men's. Parking at the site was pretty tight and there's certainly only room on the upper hill for 1 car and tent. And the sites next to us were pretty close together. There's potable (drinkable) water right next to the sites. The fire pits have a grill to fold over on top of. The store sells wood for 7 dollars a bundle (we usually went through 1-1.5 per fire). They also sell ice, drinks, worms, and apparently you can rent bikes. Location wise, it's only an 8 min drive from Leadville and a few minutes from the lake.

We got a last minute campsite after our last accommodations fell through. The staff was kind and accommodating, even walking us to our site. The bathrooms were extraordinarily clean and in great working order, which you don’t often see at campgrounds. Some reviews complained about fees, but I personally appreciated the enforcement of regulations. If you are a considerate camper, you won’t have any issues. We would definitely stay again. My only complaint is that you couldn’t book a site in advance for just one night.

After reading some reviews I was leary, but overall, we were very happy. The views from the campground were amazing. They have several rules but they are necessary to ensure everyone’s enjoyment. The bathroom/showers were very clean and except for not draining as good as it could have it was an excellent shower. The staff people were very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed watching the little chipmunks every day…they were very entertaining😊 The only negatives I will say is that it was quite dusty and a little gravel would help. Also, they could space out the sites a bit more. It was extremely close. If we had chosen to have a fire and our neighbor did as well our fire rings would have literally been about 4 feet apart. It is sad that so many of these places try to squeeze in as many campers as possible. It just takes away from the camping experience in my opinion. We were there for four nights and we did enjoy our stay.

We would stay at this campground again. Nice variety of sites. Plenty of trees. Hookups worked great. Nicely stocked store that is open till 10:00pm! Showers, bathrooms, and laundry all were clean and in great working order. Host makes sure quiet hours are observed. We had a bit of road noise, but we're in a camper, and we wear earplugs, so not really a problem. We stayed in site 60 and then had to move to site 7. Location was perfect for the hikes we wanted to do, which included Mt. Elbert, Colorado's highest peak. Plus....free generous servings of yummy ice cream EVERY NIGHT! What more could you ask for? Thanks, Don, Mariana, Kayla, Jackson and Corie, for the wonderful stay!

Won’t ever stay here again. Bathroom facilities are nice but grounds were overgrown and bumpy so don’t expect your tables or chairs to sit comfortably. The hosts were rude and the “rules” of the grounds are not transparent until you check in. Curfew is 10pm so don’t expect to sit around your fire in to the evening. Also know that you can’t hold a normal conversation or play a small speaker in your site without the host “fining” you. There are also a ton of additional costs they don’t post until you get there. There is a limit of 2 people per site so we paid an arm and a leg just so our family of 4 could stay together. Also you can park a boat and your trailer in your spot but god forbid you have an extra vehicle. That goes straight to overflow parking for $10 a day but if the parking lot is full (of people who aren't even staying at the campground) then you are out of luck. The other fines and inconveniences go on. The only positive is its proximity to Leadville, lakes and other activities. I recommend staying somewhere else if you’re trying to just enjoy family time outdoors.

I give this campground 2 stars, 1 for easy location and the second for full hook ups! THATS IT!!! Sadly we spent close to 2k for 4 sites for a week, meeting up with family and friends from 4 different states. Obviously we spent most of our time outside of our rv’s visiting, playing table and yard games. We did all our cooking and eating outside. On multiple occasions the camp host stomped into our sites pointing her finger with an angry face telling us to be quiet as we had neighbors complain. So we took it upon ourselves to go apologize to each, each saying repeatedly we were not a problem at all! There was a big hassle with regards to the amount of vehicles we arrived with so we paid for spaces in the overflow parking only to find no space because they let some biking club use the parking lot (no parking permits in their windows)and use the play ground for some celebration but that noise was acceptable. We were not out past lights out always very respectful of this rule yet seem to be the target of the camp hosts hostility. Per Wikipedia the definition of camping is “ Camping describes a range of activities and approaches to outdoor accommodation.” Not to mention the ground was severely uneven and weeds up to our knees, the bathroom facilities had multiple non operational sinks n toilets. I think it’s time for this place to do some heavy maintenance and adjust their attitudes towards people who are actually CAMPING! 8/2024

Not the place for groups larger than two people who want to also be outdoors while they camp. We made a reservation for four spots and were clear it was for a family gathering. We're all middle aged and fairly quiet... we found out on night ONE that talking in a whisper (the three of us still outside) was not allowed. Found out another day during broad daylight that chatting as a group was a "no." Even checked in with our fellow camping neighbors to apologize as the RUDE lady who shushed is said she'd "received complaints." They ALL stated they couldn't even hear us...? Shower facilities- dirty with only one working sink. I was approached AT the door as I left the shower by a very abrupt man asking if I was staying here. I pointed to the fluorescent pink tag in my car windshield and he stated "oh I didn't see it." Creepy to say the least. This after having TWO previous conversations with me. The place is a bumpy, uneven, weed and grass covered mess. Not scenic. Not pleasant on any level.

The campground was good and we enjoyed the stay very much. we did learn a lesson though ,be sure to lock things up or don't leave things like your expensive camera out to be seen.some one liked ours better than we did I guess and took it from our unattended vehicle. It had some very special pictures on it that we had not gotten taken off and developed yet so I hope they enjoy them.but we would stay again but remember to keep things under lock and key.

We made reservations 6 or more months in advance for a specific campsite. We stayed in this campground 30 years before and had great memories. That is why we returned. Instead of the site we reserved they put us in a site who's only view was a piece of earth moving equipment. No view if the majestic mountains. They gave our site to a group of 4 wheelers. The campground had not changed in over 30 years. It was rundown, in disrepair, run by kids, the owner was absent, no dryers in the laundry room, roads were in bad shape and very dated. We would not stay in this campground again. I do not recommend this campground.

The staff was super friendly! Check-in was easy. The first night we arrived there was a fun ice cream social. Lots of things to do in the area. We will definitely be back.

Staff was so helpful and accommodating. Also nice facilities and showers. They have a cute general store and an over all charming feel to the campground. Great location too!

Great Campground!!! Stayed here for the Leadville 100 run and couldn’t have been happier (about the campground, my race results are another story…) The run goes right by the campsite! Bathrooms were clean, store was stocked, and the sites were clean and wide! Will definitely be staying here next year when I make my second attempt and will be recommending it to others on the running chat sites!

Super accommodating people! We had intended to do some overnight backpacking after staying at a tent site for a few days (to acclimate to the altitude), but decided to do only day hikes instead. So, at the last minute, we asked them if they could squeeze us in for 3 additional nights. Some 15 minutes of head-scratching and a solution was found. So happy! Bathroom facilities were very nice and clean. Close to town. Cell service was decent. Staff was awesome!
