Sundance Meadows

Overview

Sundance Meadows offers a unique ranch-style retreat situated on over 1,000 acres of beautiful Southern California landscape. This private, gated community provides a peaceful escape from the hustle of city life, characterized by rolling hills and wide-open spaces. It is designed for those who appreciate a slower pace and the rustic charm of the high desert environment while staying in a secure and well-maintained setting that emphasizes a connection to nature.

Location & Surroundings

Located in the small community of Aguanga, the park sits at an elevation that offers cooler temperatures than the low desert floor. The surroundings are dominated by natural chaparral and expansive views of the nearby mountain ranges. It serves as a scenic gateway between the Temecula Valley wine country and the mountain community of Anza, offering a secluded feel while remaining accessible to the major regional hubs and attractions of Riverside County.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped with facilities that cater to both relaxation and recreation. Guests have access to a large swimming pool and spa area, which serves as a popular gathering spot during the warmer months. For those seeking activity, the grounds provide several options for entertainment:

  • Tennis and pickleball courts for active travelers
  • An 18-hole miniature golf course and horseshoe pits
  • A spacious clubhouse for community gatherings and events
  • A catch-and-release fishing pond for a quiet afternoon
The resort also offers equestrian facilities, reflecting its history as a working ranch and providing a distinct atmosphere compared to standard urban parks.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the ranch itself is quiet, it is conveniently located near several notable Southern California destinations. A short drive takes visitors to the famed Temecula wineries, where you can enjoy world-class tastings and vineyard tours. Nature enthusiasts can explore the hiking trails of the San Bernardino National Forest or visit the world-renowned Palomar Observatory. For a bit of local flavor, the nearby Cahuilla Casino Hotel offers gaming and dining options just a few minutes down the road from the park entrance.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for RVers who prefer a private, gated environment over a busy highway-side stop. It is particularly well-suited for families looking for onsite activities like mini-golf or swimming, as well as retirees seeking a peaceful seasonal home base with a community feel. Because of its spacious acreage and ranch atmosphere, it appeals most to travelers who want plenty of room to breathe and a genuine connection to the rural California landscape.

We've had our membership for more than 15 years now, the first 5 years it was great Mr. Patrick made sure that all guests were welcome and held all members and site staff accountable. He is no longer the person in charge and his successors have shown to be irresponsible, prejudiced and outright rude. Our leashed dog was attacked by a ranch dog, our guests were made to feel unwelcome and Jean has been rude on multiple occasions. The place has potential, but unfortunately the current leadership shows poor hospitality, no understanding of the diversity that they live in, zero customer service skills and lacks structure. The facilities are great for relaxing, but the staff just doesn't measure up.

I have been coming to Sundance Meadows since in started in 1980s and it’s never been a disappointment. We have now had four generations of our family there and it keeps getting better and better. Each one of our generations have experienced the time they needed to enjoy life that includes a ranch where they can ride their bike, fish, hike, and ride horses. We have experienced campfires at night and love the family atmosphere. Our latest generation, our great grandkids, love the kids playground( they have the fun toys that are not allowed in other playgrounds (merry go rounds and huge swings)! They love feeding the horses and want to know each horse’s name and love hanging out of the barn. Looking forward to coninuing making memories at the ranch!

This place is a hidden little spot nestled in Temecula Valley. It is surrounded by Palomar mountain and the views are breathtaking. To get here you drive down a dirt road, yes… if you feel like it takes forever just keep going. This campground is very family oriented and kids can be seen riding bikes and hanging out together at the pond fishing. Rv storage and horseback riding are included in the deal. My daughter loves riding and feeding the animals. I highly recommend this place, especially if you like the quiet atmosphere.

Growing up in rural California, I longed for a place that reminded me of where I grew up. I found it here. As you can tell the horses are super fat, healthy, and happy. They are all in big pastures and get to run and play. I don’t personally own a rv, yet, so I normally stay in the bunkhouse which is always clean and never booked up. Some spring nights I choose to stay in the tent. We have campfires and roast marshmallows. You can hear all the wildlife; coyotes and owls! The camp hosts are always helpful, and have even helped me change my flat tire. I am so glad I found a place that brings me peace and quiet in such a busy world.
