Come here quite often to enjoy the lake, fishing and waterpark and USUALLY it's a good time. Had a bad experience about 5 years ago with a lazy campground host living out of their old converted van. For a few years after that the hosts were awesome, went out of their way to be helpful... they'd guide you to your spot and help you back in safely in needed. This year (2025) the new hosts SUCK! They're so strict they ruin the fun camping! They make you park your camper THEIR way; your vehicle MUST line up with your camper, parked ONLY on the gravel at your spot and NO angled parking PERIOD!! Due to the design of my camper get no use from the concrete pad they advertise as an amenity because i MUST park their way or leave. usually I bring my motorcycle and park it at my site; glad I didn't this year. I couldn't park at the campground if i had... only ONE vehicle per site and they are so strict it's no fun to be here.... though I could have parked it on the concrete pad i CAN'T use.... and i'm here for 4 days and MUST pull my rugs up after 3 days... RULES! though IF I'd been able to use the pad ... there'd been no need. Showers are not clean, black mold in #4, #8 is out of order and there's only 4 serviceable for a campground of hundreds. usually there's kids running, playing, riding their bikes... this year it's like a morgue.... kids look sad. I'm not sure I'll come back until they get new hosts...

Overall, it was a very nice campground. Several rules and some fees if arriving early, and no campground access after 10p on your arrival day as you need a passcode to enter gates, but hosts seems nice and were helpful. Pull-through sites spacious, but 105 flooded terribly in the recent storm. A lot of sites by the restrooms and site 616 also had a lot of standing water - unusable if you were tenting and didn't have a camper.

Hosts were great, the views were spectacular and watching the Falling Cottonwood tree was scary. A lot of ants could be the only issue. Maybe the town can spray?

We had a very pleasant experience here. Great hosts who really made sure everyone was happy as could be! They even had a rock-painting event for the kids! Would 1000% recommend staying here!

Be sure you don't make a mistake when you make a reservation, you can't change it and get your money back. So disappointed they removed the playground equipment, there was only a sand area and a couple swings left, which were not even close to each other. The area where equipment was removed was not cleaned up and had large holes that were dangerous for little kiddos. Really felt like Christmas in July with all the cotton flying around from the cottonwood trees. There is a nice bath house, the bike path around the lake is great and the views are beautiful.

Such a great campground! The view of Storm Lake is so beautiful, I'll add a few pictures, the sites are clean and shower house has plenty of showers, there is a laundry room with a nice size table to fold your items. The roads have recently had gravel added. The grass was mowed and sites marked clearly. There are small trees that will provide a bit of shade as they grow. Some sites are pull through and some are back in only. Sunrise is an overall nice place to camp. Bring a boat, kayak, or paddle board and enjoy the water. The fishing was pretty good depending on what type of fish you like to catch.

Stayed there once yrs ago, the. A month or so back my sister and family booked a spot here. There's no wiggle room in between camp spots, nobody watches their children......kids peeling around on bikes in the road almost getting hot and no parents in site! Owners are a bit "grumpy" from what I hear and only perk is the beautiful scene across the street

Worst camping spot we’ve ever been to. Other than the fact it is right across the street this place has no perks. We called days in advance for a spot and with us telling them we would be paying monthly also that we will have 2 vehicles and a slide on our camper, they got us a spot right away saying it was $750 a month. We get there the lady told us it’s $850 and we have to pay an additional $5.00 a NIGHT to park my car in the grass a good walking distance from the camper. So now we are at $950 a month instead of the original $750 agreed to. The woman also tells us the spot we got put in did not allow slides but that she would let it go for a while…other side notes with it being dog friendly ,that is great, but you will hear constant barking. The camping spots are very narrow to back up into which is funny because they are very strict about keeping off the grass and your water hookups will be 4 way hookups so don’t expect great water pressure when/if it ever becomes a popular place to stay.

We come here every year and this time was the worse we've ever experienced. Bathrooms were in terrible shape with mold growing along the floor/wall corners, floors were filthy with dirt, toilets stained from explosive diarrhea and sinks were gross. Having a toddler, I chose to use our camper for bathing instead. One host lives out of her van and acts like a dictator while others were MIA until the very busy weekend passed. The other hosts were a very elderly couple and a young family of 4 with toddler and a infant. Then they just sat around and did nothing, even allowing campers to leave because no one was willing to check them in. I entered the access code for the garbage hauler to get in while they sat at their campers and watched. The attached picture is the site(?) occupied by the host living in her van. It's right next to the bathrooms...funny she would go to sites and demand they police up theirs. I enjoy visiting Storm Lake and all there is to do, but I may look for a different campground on our next visit.
