Finding a campsite on the northern Oregon coast during fishing season was a major challenge, but we were incredibly lucky to find Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park. The staff were amazing—they saw we were struggling and, being the great people they are, found a way to fit us in for the night. The campground has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including clean bathroom facilities, showers, and a small but well-stocked store with great coffee. With its close proximity to the ocean and a short drive to Astoria, this is a perfect spot. We'll definitely be back!

What lovely people running this campground! It was highly welcoming. We didn't need electricity or water and got a spot right next to the bathrooms. The bathrooms themselves are a bit run down and could use an update. However, they were clean and had toilet paper and soap. The view of the lake is gorgeous and you are so close to the beach trails that you can walk there. The whole park was quiet, a security guard patrolled and everyone that passed by was friendly. The shop is limited but has ice, coffee, beer, some snacks, and sodas. Well worth the stop!

Driving in, we thought the office was a convenience store not associated with the camp. Drove through the camp looking for the office.. Oh my..rv's looking well past their prime, trash everywhere, even a mattress leaned up against a tree. Seems like at least 80% of camp was long term campers. The entire site was run down and literally scary toward the back. Front office clerk was very polite but we couldn't get out fast enough. ...

Interesting little campsite. Full hook ups. Very quiet. Sites backing onto the river are nice. Caretakers/owners very friendly and quick to help/answer any questions. Well stocked store with all the necessities and then some! Lots of long term residents who don't have pride in their site. Everyone was very nice though.

After staying here, I completely understand the mixed reviews. We booked last minute while on a family road trip up the Oregon coast with two kids (7,4) and a dog. While booking the reservation, the woman on the phone (Karen?) was very kind. She emphasized that the resort is family oriented, which after staying there, I think they really *want* to be. She was very up front that the park is 80% residents. The older gentleman who checked us in was also very kind. I understood, however, why the site doesn't take online reservations. They just don't know how to. When you arrive, you drive past these residents and that's where the atmosphere takes a dive. The permanent resident sites are not well maintained. They are cramped, the campers are not just old, but falling apart and dilapidated. It gives the entire area a "sketchy vibe" for lack of a better description. I did not feel comfortable letting my kids take a walk around the campground with the dog. Our site was right on the lake, beautiful, easy to back into, and spacious. Our neighbors appeared to be other families who also ended up there on a last minute booking. Our little area was perfect. But once again, we chose not to leave it. We even opted to rinse off in our camper instead of using the campground showers, which were the bare bones concrete of an old public park bathroom. But the location has real potential. The lake is beautiful. And you are a 10-minute walk/2-minute drive from a stunning stretch of shallow sandy beach. For us, it was worth it to stay there just for the proximity to Sunset Beach. You are also five minutes away from town, with a Costco and everything you could ever need.

Have not stayed here yet but I’m the waiting list. Susan is great, her customer service skills are awesome! And the fact it’s pet friendly and handicap friendly is a HUGE plus for me. This is the only RV park that has not refused to rent to me and place me on their waitlist because of my disability. I require the use of mobility aids and many RV parks have refused to rent to me on that basis alongside the fact that I require a customized handicap accessible RV with a ramp made from the body of a city bus as that was the cheapest way for me to have an accessible RV. Can’t wait to start staying here! Very rare place, as many RV parks will not rent to the disabled and won’t accept the fact that some need custom RV’s which is illegal and essentially like telling someone they aren’t welcome because they use a wheelchair but many seem to get away with the discrimination. This is already a place that will accept you disabled or not, specialized RV or not. Just pay your rent, be kind, and have common courtesy and you’ll be fine. Glad I found this place!

You're camping next to people who live there full-time in a camper/trailer, but they are nice and keep to themselves.

This is the second time that we have camped here in our tents with the family. I highly recommend this be a spot you all check out. The management in the office is super friendly my kids love going in to the store to get treats. This place has running showers and working bathrooms. There is a park right across the street for your kids to play on and its not even a minute drive to the beach. We love you guys thanks alot from the Anderson family
