Superior/Cadotte Lake

Overview

Nestled within the expansive Superior National Forest, Cadotte Lake Campground offers a quintessential Northwoods experience for RVers seeking serenity. This destination provides a quiet escape from the bustle of modern life, focusing on the natural beauty of the Minnesota wilderness. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by dense forests and the clear waters of Cadotte Lake, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate a slower pace and the soothing sounds of the great outdoors.

Location & Surroundings

Located near the small community of Brimson, Minnesota, the park is tucked away in a lush landscape of birch, aspen, and pine trees. The surrounding environment is characterized by its isolation and untouched beauty, providing a true sense of seclusion. The shores of Cadotte Lake dominate the landscape, offering scenic vistas and a calm atmosphere where the call of a loon is often the only sound to break the silence during a peaceful evening by the fire.

Amenities & Park Features

As a traditional forest service site, the park offers a rustic camping experience without modern electrical or water hookups. RVers should come prepared for dry camping, though the park does provide large, private sites that accommodate various rig sizes comfortably. Essential facilities include vault toilets and a solar-powered water pump, ensuring basic needs are met. The park also features a well-maintained boat ramp and a dedicated swimming beach, allowing visitors easy access to the water throughout their stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with fishing for walleye and northern pike being a popular pastime for many visitors. The calm waters are perfect for canoeing and kayaking, allowing for peaceful exploration of the shoreline. Nearby, the Cloquet River offers additional opportunities for water-based adventures, while the vast network of forest roads provides ample space for bird watching and observing local wildlife, such as deer and bald eagles, in their natural habitat.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an exceptional choice for self-contained RV travelers who prioritize privacy and nature over resort-style amenities. It is ideally suited for families looking to unplug and reconnect, as well as anglers and paddlers who want immediate access to the water. If you enjoy the simplicity of a crackling campfire and a star-filled sky, this quiet corner of the Minnesota Northwoods will feel like a perfect match for your travel style.

A small but well run campground. 30% of the sites can be reserved by calling ahead of time. The rest are first come first serve. There is freshwater via hand pump wells. And there are outhouse places stragietly. Campsites are spaced far enough apart that you can't see your neighbor thru the trees and woods. Sites are spacious and easy to get in and out of. I would recommend any type of camping since I have tented there and taken my 5th wheel.

Great camp ground, worth the drive! Got lucky and it wasn't to crazy busy. There are walkways from the campgrounds to the lake and fishing is also great here.

A very rustic campground in a beautiful setting. Water available but no power or sewer. Very clean vault toilets. A sandy beach on a very clear water lake

Campground host was kind and helpful. One of the few places I can camp and still have full cell phone reception. I recommend getting a site near the lake as it's more breezy. Beware the mosquitoes are fearless, dress accordingly.

Likely the nicest, friendliest, and inviting campgrounds I've ever been to! With nearly 30 campsites you're almost guaranteed a space; although, they do allow you to reserve any of several spots and there are seasonal spots available as well. Most sites were large enough for a 6-12 person tent, screen house, open area, picnic table and fire pit with attached swivel grill. Nestled right on the lake and located just off the main road, but far enough down a dirt road that you won't hear traffic. Several bathrooms ensure you're never far with clean water available. Boat launch and swimming area. Dog, drinking, and smoker friendly. 10/10: Would Camp There Again!
