Great campground, pretty big. Second time we stayed before launching into BWCA. Very convenient and spaced out sites, pit toilets, potable water spigots. No open dumpsters found, so we packed our garbage out. Each site had a picnic table and a fire pit.

Campgrounds and lake were very nice although the hosting was definitely not. My group and I were there for a bachelors weekend to enjoy our weekend but couldn’t because of the host. We had 3 dogs on the trip who were leashed but got harassed for “not being on a leash”. Also host came to tell us we could not have 2 cars on the campground when clearly we had the receipts on the dash as instructed from the front office. When she was wrong she stated that our dogs needed to be on leashes when clearly they were on a leash. She would then proceed to not stop by any other campsite other than ours. Throughout our time there she would only come to our campsite demanding dogs on a leash besides other campsites who also had dogs even threatening us that the sheriff would be called. We didn’t want to have problems but definitely felt targeted as we were the only group being stopped and yelled at. If it was to be enforced to every other campsite than we wouldn’t of left a bad review, but it was only our group she stopped by and no one else. I don’t want to blame it on race but they need to do better at hosting, as it was a national campground where people are just trying to enjoy their time on the campground with nature and not constantly being harassed. With that being said, we will definitely not come back. To the red hair host lady, do better please, we tried peacefully talking to you because we didn’t want no problems but you insisted of harassing us. I hope this will never happen to anyone else.

Red haired host had definitely complained and targeted us when she found out about our group coming. Also, after finding out that our dogs needed to be leashed, she came around 3 more times to yell at us and threatened to call the sheriff the 4th time even though we were following all her rules. WHILE the other campers dog’s were roaming off leash around our camp site TWICE and she did not stop by to talk to them once about leashing their dog. Felt targeted because of our race along with our sexuality. Not coming back here if she is still here. It was suppose to be a fun relaxing time but every time she strolled around to make rounds, it was uncomfortable because she would stop ONLY AT OUR campsite and stare at us as if we were doing something wrong. Beautiful lake and awesome campers, but the host made our experience extremely uncomfortable and bad. The photo of the dog was proof of the other campers dog unleashed in our campsite.

I’ve camped here twice now. It’s been a great experience both times. Easy to find your spot. There are a few water facets spread throughout the campsites. Restrooms as well that are very clean. The staff are helpful. Easy access to the Lake. Bring lots of bug spray and sunscreen!

Great campground, does need better water access for campers, but with 10K of lakes you'll not have to go far for one.

This is a large campground on Sawbill Lake. The campsites are all spacious with good distance between them and lie under towering pines. Bathrooms are pit toilets and Sawbill Canoe Outfitters is located within the campground, offering supplies, etc.
