This was our first time staying at Hideaway Campground, and we highly recommend it! From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth, clean, and family-friendly. Campground & Amenities: The campground is well-maintained and spotless. The brand-new bathhouses are some of the nicest we’ve seen — modern, clean, and comfortable. Laundry facilities are conveniently located and in great condition. The swimming pool area is beautiful — complete with lounge chairs, regular chairs, and umbrellas, perfect for relaxing on a warm afternoon. The clubhouse is a nice touch too, giving campers a space to gather or cool off indoors. General Store & Firewood: The general store is well-stocked with camping essentials, snacks, and little extras you might have forgotten to pack. Firewood is available for $10 per bundle, and note that you’re only allowed to use firewood purchased on the property — a good policy for keeping the grounds and surrounding forest safe. Atmosphere: Hideaway is very kid-friendly, with open spaces and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The staff couldn’t have been nicer — everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Check-in was quick and easy, and you can tell the owners take pride in keeping things running smoothly. Fishing & Wildlife: We had some good luck catching bluegill in the catch-and-release pond. There’s even a small alligator that occasionally shows up, but it kept its distance and didn’t pose any problem — just added a touch of local wildlife to the experience! Nighttime Views: At night, the view of the stars is absolutely breathtaking. With minimal light pollution, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing after the campfire dies down. Nearby Convenience: If you forget anything major, there’s a Walmart just a short drive away, which makes last-minute supply runs easy. Hideaway Campground offers a perfect blend of comfort, cleanliness, and family fun. Between the friendly staff, great amenities, and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a place we’ll definitely be returning to.

Stayed at The Hideaway RV campground while transiting through Florida. Only stayed for a couple of days, so we really didn't get to enjoy the campground amenities. PROS - Very friendly check-in experience. Escorted to the site by the campground host. - Site level enough to not need blocks to level the travel trailer. - Some of the cleanest showers and bath houses we've seen in our travels all across the Midwest and East Coast. - Very cool walkway/boardwalk to the river. - Very quiet and peaceful campground. CONS - 1/2 mile road to the campground a bit rougher than expected. - Several spots in the grassy areas contained cocklebur - type seeds that made walking the dogs more difficult than expected. Overall though, this is a great campground to relax and unwind at for a couple of days.

Great little campground and a really friendly group of hosts! Really awesome shaded spots with big old live oaks everywhere. Great facilities if you need them. Boardwalk to the Suwanee River is really unique! Would definitely stay here again.

We spent this past weekend at the campground and prior to arriving we had no idea what to expect. It’s very easy to look online and see photos but it’s hard to know if those photos will compare to what you’re actually getting. We did arrive after hours, but we had spoke to Kathy previously who had all of our paperwork set out for us upon arrival so that we could quickly get settled in. Over the course of the weekend, we noticed that the facility was very quiet and peaceful, and that there was no chaos whatsoever. All of the residents were friendly and welcoming as well. This facility does run a couple items off the honor system so there is ice and firewood accessible at all times with a little dropbox for the money. I would recommend having cash just in case you need one of those things after hours. The general store is super cute and has pretty much everything you could think of that you would need for camping. There is a bath house and laundry room, which are both super clean. We did have a couple frog visitors in the bathroom, however that comes with the territory of camping in the middle of the woods. The pool was super clean and warm, which was wonderful after a long hot day. There is a boardwalk on the backside of the property, which leads back to the river for an adventure filled with nature and animals. During this trip, we saw a giant tortoise multiple deer and even owls. We should absolutely wonderful experience and we highly recommend this property to anyone looking to camp in the area. It is affordable all of the residence and employees are super friendly and helpful and all around. This was a great experience. We will most definitely be back.

We enjoyed this off-season visit to this RV Park. The park was not busy at all, it was exceptionally peaceful, and well maintained. All of the sites are on grass & there is an abundance of ants, so spray up. There is a wonderful, long boardwalk from the campground to the Suwanee River. We saw Cypress Knees and there we large fish jumping in the river. We will certainly stay at this park again when we are in the area.

This campground is a hidden gem, not far off I-75 and worth the stop. The RV sites are spacious with full hook-ups available. It is so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful with the pond and Suwannee River to explore. The boardwalk to the River rivals Congaree National Park as you walk above the cypress-filled swamp and enjoy the flora and fauna. There is wildlife such as owls and deer, plus much more. The facilities are clean and in the process of more improvements by the new owners. We would definitely stay here again and for a longer stay to explore more.

We stayed at The Hideaway in February 2025 for a 3 day weekend. Other reviewers have called it a hidden gem which perfectly describes it. The Hideaway is one of the most peaceful, relaxing campgrounds we have ever stayed at. The 1500' boardwalk down to the river is truly a walk with nature. For those not wanting to fish in the river they have a catch & release pond. We did not use the bath/showers but they appear to be very clean and well appointed, and they have a very nice pool with a great clubhouse. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the interaction we had with the new owners was very enjoyable. A couple of the evenings we had dinner at very good restaurants nearby, returned to the campsite and had a relaxing night around the campfire with friends. We are glad we found this campground and will definitely be returning. We highly recommend The Hideaway.

The Hideaway features RV and tent camping along with bathouse and other accommodations. The grounds has a small patch dedicated to dog walking even though they can tour the grounds on a leash. The boardwalk seems a bit sketchy with some loose boards and a little swaying. It juts out to the Suawanee River and has a small area for picnicking/rest. The dock looks like a great place to fish. The Hideaway's pond allows catch and release but I'm not sure about the river. The RV sites include everything; power, water, and sewer but the sites are very close together. The "W" sites are along the pond. There are picnic tables and fire rings/pits at all sites but you must bring or purchase wood for burning. The entire grounds is built out and offers little for privacy even for tent campers. It's a very quiet and quaint retreat with not a lot to do here but relax.

5 Stars – An Exceptional Stay at Suwannee River Hideaway Campground! We recently spent an extended Thanksgiving weekend at Suwannee River Hideaway Campground in Old Town, FL, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We stayed at site W1, right by the lake—our favorite spot from a previous visit last year. The location is idyllic, and the ability to walk down the scenic boardwalk to the river added so much to the charm of our stay. The campground is now under new ownership, and the improvements are impressive! From the enhanced bath house—spotlessly clean with perfectly hot showers—to the well-maintained grounds, it’s clear that the owners take great pride in providing a top-notch camping experience. Our site had full hookups, which made our stay even more comfortable. The pool was clean and well maintained, but too cold to enjoy in December (for us). One of the unique aspects of this campground is its designation as an owl sanctuary. At night, the owls treated us to a mesmerizing vocal performance, their hooting adding a magical touch to the tranquil atmosphere. The pet-friendly policies are a huge plus, too!! . The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, ensuring everything was well-organized and enjoyable. Between the peaceful riverside setting, the abundant wildlife, and the thoughtful amenities, we are thrilled with the direction the new owners are taking and look forward to seeing what’s in store for the future of this gem. Highly recommend Suwannee River Hideaway Campground for anyone looking for a serene, clean, and well-run camping experience. We can’t wait to return!

We did the tent camping area. It wss a few weeks after the hurricane. The grounds were not ready. Brush and tree debris everywhere. It was a mess and not ready to be rented. The clubhouse was very nice. The boathouse was dated and not clean. The pool was unavailable. Laundry facilities were poor and dirty. There were two possum carcasses at our site when we arrived. I had to get my shovel out to remove them.if they had waited until the grounds were cleaned up to rent sites, then it would have been a better stay. On the plus side, no one hassled us. The office was never open. The host did not answer the phone.

Great out of the way campsite. Reminding me of Summer camp with those old bathrooms and wooded areas surrounding the camp. However each campsite give you enough room to enjoy yourself and some privacy as well as being a great place for your furry friend. This RV campground is also located in a owl sanctuary so there is little to no lighting except the light coming off of each person‘s campsite. There is an incredible boardwalk that is as straight as an arrow that leads to the Suwanee river it is a must do while visiting the area. Although this campground is well off the road it is convenient to several local Springs where you can take in the 72° year-round water and even possibly swim with manatees. Four star rating because the new owner really needs to invest in updating the bathrooms and laundry machines. The laundry machines were very old and only one worked decently as well as placing a commercial filter on the water since it is obviously well water. I had to rewash all of my clothes at the next campground.

We did not get kicked out for not following rules.they never gave us a reason as to why they didn't renew our rent.in the beginning my husband had said he wanted to stay for 6 or 7 months and they made it seam that it was perfectly fine.so please enlighten me on why yall really didn't renew our rent cause I'm pretty sure I know why.

We just spent a wonderful two nights here and we will definitely be back!! The camp host was so welcoming and accommodating! It truly felt like we were coming home to family! The bath house was immaculately clean and the water nice and hot. Staff was around and available to help with any request. The boardwalk out to the Suwannee River is definitely worth the Trek. Only 15 minutes to chiefland which has everything you could possibly need. The campground even had great T-Mobile signal. We stayed on tent site number 3 which is one of the biggest and it was absolutely perfect. Just a hop away from water and a 2 minute walk to the bathhouse. We are already looking forward to our next trip. Hopefully we can come again in May...
