Stayed there for my birthday weekend Get-away. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I stayed at one of the Glamping tents, right next to the river which was beautiful. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back again!

My wife and I, along with our dog, had a great time celebrating the New Year! We stayed in Pioneer 1 and we sure felt we stepped back in time. The room was a bit on the cold side, even with the heater that was provided, but thankfully we also brought our space heater which helped. The bathrooms were well kept, the grounds were clean, and the surrounding area was pleasant. It was really nice being river front! We would definitely recommend a stay. Also, the office staff were extremely nice and quick to check us in. We'll definitely be back for summertime.

This is to the owner of Sweetwater River Resort. I had a reservation at your Park from 31 December through one January. I was pretty excited about staying at your Park but I'm very disappointed regarding the cleanliness of the cabin I stayed in I had to sweep the floor the management brought me a new comforter because I guess the maid clean the ceiling fan and sawdust just was just everywhere from the ceiling. The sheets did not have a fresh clean scent they smelt like they had been used the pillows were old the bed is old. The cabin needs to be updated and cleaned better I didn't even want to take a shower and your shower because there was a mold around the door and it had not been clean the dishes are scratched up I don't even want to cook in them the whole place was disgustingly dirty. The window that is facing the water that's coming apart you can't even open it because it's broken. I think it's a safety hazard on the deck you don't have a railing around it you just have on one side and that's a big huge drop off and you've got pipes and rocks and all kinds of debris in one pile and that should be placed up and put into a nice building you guys should take pride in owning a place on the Arkansas River but I guess you don't. Also I want to suggest that your sign is all tore up it has been like that for a very long time and you should put a new sign up take pride in your ownership of that as you call it Resort

This is a budget friendly place to camp. The hosts were helpful, and the bathrooms were actually quite clean. Old, but clean. Hwy noise is a bit of an issue, but does quiet down a bit after 8 pm or so. The river was very lovely, and my kids loved the suspension bridge. The camp sites are very close to each other though, so if you don’t like to be that close to people, you may want to look elsewhere. Overall, this was a great place I would go to again, but would stay in Corral 1 instead of 2. Corral 2 was difficult to get power and water since they were on the opposite side of our camper and had no tree shade like 1 did.

This is an anglers paradise! Had a blast with the family in pioneer 1, the cabin was feet away from the river. Stunning scenery. Gavin the manager and all of the staff were wonderful. We will definitely be back!

We had a great experience staying here at sweet water river resort in July 2025. We had booked tent sites, cabins, house etc to accomodate our large group. Gavin and his whole team was awesome in accomodating our needs. Great hosts, location and accomodations. Only minor downside would be the road noise could be a bit bothersome for some staying in tents on the road side of the river. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely consider coming back.

We had such a great time, the location by the river was great, the noise of the water covered any highway noises. I saw reviews about cow poop but we didn’t see any. The bathrooms and showers were a plus and extremely clean. Highly recommend this place! There is a bridge with wooden planks and some small gaps between them to cross, so you aren’t right by your car but it’s not a bad walk. If you have pets that do not like weird surfaces you may have a bit of a challenge getting them to cross, but we saw plenty of dogs having a great time in the water not scared of the bridge!

We were, to say the least, disappointed upon arrival. We do extensive research before choosing where to stay, and this location had incredible reviews—so we were genuinely confused when we got there. We had booked a tent site. To start, all guests must carry their gear up and down approximately 20 fairly steep stairs. This wasn’t a problem for us, but a heads-up beforehand would have been appreciated. None of the campsites were clearly marked, which made things very confusing upon arrival. More concerning was the amount of animal waste scattered throughout the area. While we understand it’s nature, it was difficult to find a clean spot to pitch our tent in our spot—something that should really be addressed. The picnic tables were also in poor condition and falling apart. The women’s restroom was closed during our stay, leaving us to use the men’s facilities. We typically stay at National Parks, so that's the standard we’re used to. Had all the sites been occupied, campers would have been placed very close to each other, which might feel uncomfortable for those seeking a bit more privacy. On the positive side, the views are absolutely breathtaking, and the staff member we spoke with was very kind and accommodating. We had originally planned to stay the entire week but ended up leaving after the first night and booking a room at the Holiday Inn in Cañon City. Fortunately, we received a full refund—but the experience was still disappointing. That said, I would genuinely love to give this place another try in five years, after some updates and improvements have been made. I’m hopeful we just caught it at a bad time.

In spring of 2016 I peddled my bicycle from Indiana to San Diego. I came upon this campsite 5/25/16 and I swear it was as good as it gets for me. Snow capped mountains, river, a nice bridge for scinic pictures, and my slept in my tent falling asleep listing to the sound of flowing water. The showers were clean too. The man who owned it was friendly. I drove by it about 3 years later and it appeared to be closed.

I love camping here. The people are so nice. It is right on the river. Only downside is the road noise but I can live with that. Plan to go back again next season

Perfect little getaway. Highly recommend. Not far from Salida. Beautiful hwy motel with r.v. hook ups and cabins. Couldn't hear the cars too much on the hwy, especially with a/c on. One of the coolest features is the suspension bridge that leads you to some picnic tables on the other side of the river. Would definitely stay here again and again. The owners are super nice as well!

Stay was great in the motel. No TV. Small shower. Great room, great staff. Even had a cookout that all the campers could attend. Very clean and kept. The river is right behind the sites for easy access! We will definitely stay again! Craig was amazing!

Stayed a few days the last week of July. The truth. Right on the river? Yes. RV sites right behind and higher than you? Yes. Grounds need a lot of maintenance and refurbishing? Yes. The highway is at most one hundred yards behind and again above you? Yes. Opinion. We were told the sites are "premium" are they? NO. The price was 75.00 per night then add tax. Is this a good/ fair price? No. Would we stay again? No.
