Great location on the Needles Highway. The sites are level with broken asphalt. Mobility might be an issue. The showers are the nicest I have seen. The Hosts were amazing. The sites were a little close but not terrible. I had SL6E. Lake is amazing but suggest mid week. The weekend was packed. The Lake is about 0.2 miles from the campground.

Awesome campground and even cooler state park! This is definitely "national park level" of amazing. You'll probably need to book way in advance, but it's totally worth it if you can get a spot. We stayed at the walk-in sites at the top of the campground and really enjoyed having lots of space between us and others. The walk-in sites aren't far at all; if you have a lot of gear it might take a couple trips back and forth, but it's nothing more than a 3-5 minute walk at most.

We stayed at site 15 (tent only area) and was great!! It was a quiet campground! Campsites weren’t on top of each other which was nice! It is a steep incline to the campsite, but they provide a wheelbarrow and a cart to help, which was super helpful!! Wasn’t much of any views just in the forest. Next time we would choose 16, 17 or 21; because those views are amazing! Close to Sylvan Lake and the general store as well as some hiking trails. The showers were hot, free and a large personal room. We would stay here again!

This is a super campground that is beautiful, quiet, nicely laid out, and close to so many great places/trailheads. We stayed for a week in early June at tent site 26 which was large, private, and had a secret trail behind it that was excellent! Yes it rained off and on, but our tent does well and we just went to Custer to eat or did a driving tour if it was too wet for anything else. Sylvan lake is gorgeous, but so is everything here. The campground even has a trail leading right to the lake which is full of mostly rainbow trout.

Quiet and secluded campground. Host was super nice and greeted us as we were setting up camp. The bathrooms are the cleanest I’ve ever seen at a campground as well as the free showers. Showers and bathrooms were also heated which was so nice during the cold and rainy weather. We stayed at a tent only site which was even more secluded. Beautiful campground, after driving throughout the rest of the park i’m glad we chose to stay at this one. Would definitely stay here again next time i visit.
