We had a delightful afternoon hiking around and exploring the park with the dogs. First, we hiked up Sneve Trail on White River National Forest land to wear the dogs down, off leash where it is allowed, uphill. Sneve Trail is shaded and slippery when wet. Then, we leashed up the dogs and wandered over to the other side of the lake into the state park. There were trout spawning near the inlet (NO FISHING SIGN POSTED). The trail around the lake is pretty easy and may be partially ADA accessible - call ahead to confirm if this is relevant. There are picnic sites around the lake in the shade. On the way out, I drove through another picnic site near an old cabin, also in a beautiful setting. The Visitor's Center has a cute gift shop with artwork from local artists, t-shirts, books, etc., along with maps and a small exhibit. The administrative assistant I spoke with (Abbey?) is well-informed about the park and very helpful. The facilities were very clean and well-stocked. Count on ZERO wifi. Great day at yet another fantastic Colorado state park. #coparkspassport

Secluded park south of Eagle, CO. Dark sky for viewing stars and a short loop hike around lake. At end of six miles of dirt road. Camping, picnic area, boat ramp, fishing.

Had an awesome time fishing and chilling by the lake, this was not part of my trip to Colorado but I'm glad we stumbled upon it and went out of our way to enjoy it!

Beautiful state park to paddle board at. Super crowded on weekends, get there early for a spot. Pit toilets only. The trail around the lake is just over a mile and its a beautiful walk.

This park was gorgeous! The lake, the trails, the views, all of it was stunning! We were only there 2 nights, so 1 day. We will definitely go back and stay longer. We only got to hike 1 trail and fish. We arrived on a Sunday so it was crowded with people spending the weekend there. There were a few with loud music and yelling kids. Monday was much calmer. The water looked clean and perfect for paddleboarding. The was absolutely no cell service.

We camped at the group site during the first week of August. There were bathrooms and a water pump exclusively for the group site, which was great. There is a beautiful, peaceful creek below the site that you can access via some steps. The lake was peaceful and was wonderful for kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. It was quite windy, and several canopies and tents blew over even with stakes in. There was a fire ban the second night, which was a bummer. Weather was great! Ground wasn’t too flat for tents but we made it work. Beautiful spot for a camping getaway!

We rented the 3 bedroom cabin for 2 nights. What a beautiful spot! The cabin had the essentials, an amazing view and we loved the electric fire once the sun went down 🏔️ the park ranger came by to make sure all was good and we had a quiet, relaxing weekend. Will definitely stay again.

If you're craving a break from the hustle, Sylvan Lake State Park is the perfect spot for a true digital detox. Nestled in the heart of Colorado’s Rockies, there’s zero cell service, so you can completely disconnect—no news, no stock market updates, nothing but nature. Trust me, you’ll want to kick back, crack open a cold one, and settle in by the fire as the stars slowly take over the night sky. And if you're lucky, like we were, you might even get a surprise visit from a curious fox, which just adds to the magic of this place. The peaceful vibe here is unmatched. The lake is stunning, surrounded by towering pines and mountains—it’s like camping in a postcard. Whether you're hiking around the lake, fishing, or just chilling by your tent or RV, it’s the perfect place to recharge and forget about the outside world for a while. We had an absolute blast and can’t recommend it enough!

It's nice, but busier than I would have thought for a no-cell service, dry camping park. Lots more people on a Saturday, parking in and walking through your campsite. Decent fishing with a lot of pressure on weekends. Great hiking loop around the lake. But again, on weekends, be prepared for lots of kids yelling and running around. If you want to enjoy paddle board and kayaking, anytime is okay. If you want to enjoy fishing or peace and quiet, avoid the weekends.

06/10/2023 First time camping here and couldn’t have been a better trip. The views were amazing, took the paddle board on the water, fished, and hiked. It’s got everything you could ask for. Couple things to keep in mind, reserve a camping spot in advance, and the lake is a no swimming lake. Truly paradise though. ***I do want to warn dog owners! We came back and found a tick on our dog. We used tick and flea spray and did a bath as soon as we got home. Luckily we found it right away.

On a whim, my wife and I were looking for a new lake to fish, as the spring runoff made the creeks and rivers too high and fast for fly fishing. We found Sylvan Lake, and couldn’t have been happier with our decision. We found this hidden gem in the mountains outside of Eagle. They have cabins and yurts for rent, although we just stayed for the day. A day pass was only $10. The lake has a nice easy hiking trail and many fishing access points around it. The entire trail around the lake is about 1.4-1.5 miles. There is a small inlet creek crossing that has a wooden bridge on the far end of the lake. Views of the mountains near the salt/aspen from the lake are absolutely stunning. We wish we would have brought our SUP, because the waters were very calm, despite there being a breeze around the lake. I would highly recommend this relatively hidden lake for camping or a nice day trip.
