I had a good time at Baxter Campground. I had never been here before and wasn't sure what to expect. The water was way up from all the rain so some sites were under water. They have a great swimming area and picnic tables there and also a marina. It was quiet and peaceful and beautiful . Just make sure you gas up before you get down there because the closest fuel station is several miles away.

We enjoyed our visit to Baxter Campground! We will definitely come back. The swim beach and area is nice and has a beautiful view all day long! The shower house has 4 units with toilet and sink in each one. Playground is nice too. Lots of dogs when we were there, but they were not loud and there wasn’t much barking at all. You’ll definitely need lake shoes because it’s all rock and something to float on. There’s a Dollar General about 15 mins or less from the campground that had tubs to float on. It was a beautiful place to camp!

Baxter was cool. Felt weird having the rangers drive through so often. No host but rangers knocked on our door after a couple days around 9 o'clock at night to "check us in" The road to get here is windy, and the locals have no qualms about going the speed limit.

Campground is way too crowded. People were parking their boats in front of their sites, blocking the road. Made it really hard for larger campers to get in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was amazed to see one tent campsite had a lavatory tent in front of their campsite.
