Amenities & Park Features
As a Forest Service facility, the amenities at Boca Rest are focused on a traditional camping experience. While it lacks the luxury features of a commercial resort, the park provides essential facilities to support a comfortable stay:
- The campground provides access to vault toilets and central potable water access points throughout the summer season.
- Each individual campsite features a large picnic table and a heavy-duty fire ring for traditional outdoor cooking and evening campfires.
- Boaters will appreciate the convenient access to a public boat ramp located nearby for easy reservoir recreation and water entry.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw of this location is the reservoir, which is excellent for motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Recreation opportunities are abundant in this corner of the forest:
- Anglers can enjoy trout and salmon fishing directly from the shoreline or by launching a boat onto the calm morning waters.
- Cyclists can explore the extensive mountain biking trails and rugged hiking paths that wind through the surrounding national forest land.
- Travelers can take short day trips to the historic district of Truckee for eclectic shopping, local dining, and regional history.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for self-contained RVers who appreciate a dry camping environment and prioritize natural surroundings over resort-style perks. Very basic camp sites. Great if you're passing through. Not much shade.

Good inexpensive campground. My last visit was a couple years ago but I remember the camp host was friendly and kind. The downside was some campers partied all night with music blasting and the liquor flowing, the camp host didn't say anything to them so we had to. Can draw a rowdy crowd but definitely a fun campground. There are toilets available and fire wood for sale.

Camp host was very nice and helpful. Lake was full, 7/27/23, short walk to waters edge.

Some sites aren't very level. They re-numbered the sites, so the one get isnt the one you thought you were reserving based on the map on the website. But, overall the campground is well kept & beautiful.
