Goose Meadow Campground is a gem tucked close to town, yet it offers the solitude and natural beauty that any angler would appreciate The campsites are all solid, but I staked my claim on one that backs right up to the Truckee River. It was the perfect spot to cast a line at dawn, with trout practically jumping out of the water. The restroom looked newly painted and clean, just what you need after a long day on the river. This place has all the makings of a great camp, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good fishing and a well-kept site.

No functioning toilet, just one big hole. Only one fountain for the entire campsite, which is used to wash your hands, brush your teeth, wash dishes, and drink water. No toilet seat covers and no hand soap is provided. The location is not very convenient and is right next to a loud road.

I loved my night here as a solo female camper. Very casual check in haha. When I walked up to the host's trailer and asked if I needed to check in, he said "if you want to". He made several rounds of the campground every day and was pleasant otherwise. I was in site 15, which shares a parking area w/ site 16 (2 car spot), although the ppl in site 16 were able to park two cars, one behind the other, in their spot nicely. The cars were between the two sites, so it added privacy between the sites. The site is so close to the main road you can see cars going by through the trees, but the sound of them blends in w/ the "white noise" of the river just a short walk down. This noise also made it so I didn't hear much of the large group in sites 16/17, so that was ok. Bathrooms were clean, not too stinky. My site was immediately across the road from them, so that was nice. Bear box was big enough for my igloo and multiple bags of kitchen stuff. Loved that downtown Truckee was like 15 min away, as well as many hiking trails. Will definitely stay here again!

A great campsite. Clean bathrooms unless it’s a day off for the campsite hosts. I believe these are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Big bear boxes. Nice path to walk to the river. Less than a 1/4 mile. Very pleasant environment.

This is a small Forest Service campground off of Highway 89. Running water and pit toilets (that were very clean). You can hear the traffic noise off of 89, as you are right beside it, but it is only 10 minutes from Donner Lake where we spent much of our days. It was a good place for a few days and the other campers were very quiet. It had a good feeling overall. I was in campsite 22.

The perfect primitive campground. No hookups, but clean & close vault toilets & water spigot. Big, beautiful campsites. Good mix of RVs & tent campers. Lots of families enjoying the outdoors. Easy highway access, right on the Truckee River. Great walking trail with plenty of river access points. LOVED our stay.

Yes it's close to the road but the sound of the river makes it feel way nicer.
