Tahoe Valley Campground

This is an RV campground, so rooms rating doesn't apply. The sites are large with MANY pine trees surrounding you. The staff is VERY friendly & always willing to go the extra mile to help. The location of the campground is very convenient to restaurants, beaches, bike rentals & wide variety of hiking trails. This is our "go to place" in South Lake Tahoe!

I have to give this place a low rating because despite the property being almost perfect, the limitations this place puts on cabin pass members is sub par and misleading. I bought the cabin pass so I could utilize it at this location to visit family nearby but they block out their two busiest months to cabin pass members so they can charge astronomical rates to retail customers to fill cabins that are normally allotted to cabin pass members. To me, this is poor business ethics and wasn't mentioned when I bought the pass.

The check in was seamless. The woman that checked us in was super friendly. The cabin was ready just a little early. The only thing that I am not sure about it, how to check in when the general store is closed. The hours are 10 AM to 4 PM. they have a lot of cute things to look at. They have all of the necessities as well. The cabin was super cure too. It was very clean. The two things I appreciated that are not available at all locations, were plenty of fluffy towels, and eco-friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash, and lotion. The bed was ok, not amazing, but we slept just fine. They are working on tree removal (March 2026) around the playground so that may affect some peoples stay but it was not an issues for us. We were very happy with the stay. Starlink worked just fine too. It took a few tries to get a good spot, but it ended up keeping a strong signal throughout the week.

Shout out to Jennifer who works at this location! She is so friendly and welcoming and HELPFUL! She goes above and beyond to make sure your needs are met and your stay goes smoothly. We are Thousand Trails members and we come to Tahoe more than any other location. The public bathrooms are always clean and heated very warm in the cold months! Also love that the showers and toilets are individual and private as opposed to having one large bathroom with many stalls for people to share. Neat trails to explore, quiet at night and in the morning, large perimeter and it’s very close to the hustle and bustle of town! We got to see some wildlife as well. Their little store has fair prices and pretty much anything we’ve ever needed. Beautiful scenery!

We stayed here almost a month in the fall after Labor Day. Great location for nearby trails and activities. The airport is nearby and can be noisy but it’s not very frequent and never after dark. This campground can get very crowded during peak weekends but we had fun at there vintage trailer meet up. Campgrounds electrical was spotty at some of the sites and cell reception is pretty low, we had to use Starlink. Bears and coyotes are pretty common visitors even during the day sometimes. Overall we loved our stay here and the staff was very accommodating

My wife and I stayed at Tahoe Valley Campground and were disappointed with our experience. The sites are extremely small and very close to neighbors, making it feel cramped. For the high cost, the value didn’t match our expectations. This campground seems better suited for large groups who enjoy late-night partying, which wasn’t ideal for us as early risers seeking a peaceful retreat. On the positive side, it’s great for families with kids, offering plenty of activities to keep them entertained. However, for those looking for a quiet, relaxed camping experience, this isn’t the best fit.

There is something for everyone at this campground. Fantastic activities for the kids, biking, hiking to the nearby river, pool, etc. a fenced dog park within the grounds and a great store for forgotten items or souvenirs. The band on Saturday night was first rate. You could hear the cheering from afar. The free entertainment and daily activities arranged for the kids is priceless!

I've been coming here for years. As campgrounds go, this one is huge. There's a very large variety of sites and locations within the campground available. Also nice cabin and tent sites. There's lots of space to explore in the woods and you can walk all the way to the river and beyond. It's a great way to walk your dog. If you go in the other direction you are minutes away from a very large Raley's grocery store and other shopping establishments and restaurants. The campground is in really excellent shape. The best I've seen in the years I've been coming here. I have a trailer so I don't routinely use the bathrooms but they've been remodeled and they are spectacular! Clean, private, and in good repair. And as others have said, this is a family-oriented campground. And it does get loud. Especially on a busy summer weekend. Sometimes they have large groups that also play loud music. But from what I can tell most people are very good about abiding by the quiet hours restrictions. It gets quiet in the late evening and you don't have to worry about noise keeping you up all hours of the night. In sum, this is probably the family campground by which other campgrounds are measured. Just very nice all the way around.

Pros: 1. Kids activities like karaoke night, bike parade, organized games, crafts, movie night, etc were AMAZING. 2. Great amenities like playground, pool, ping pong, store, laundromat, food trucks and pop ups…super handy and added lots of value. 3. Beautiful setting with lots of trees and shade, but yet also very close to grocery store, restaurants, and the lake. Cons: 1. Bathrooms were very dirty and had lots of plumbing issues. We were not comfortable using them. 2. Airport noise was loud. 3. Smokers in the site next door. 4. Other campers left their food out and bears were in the camp multiple times a day. 5. Other campers were loud past quiet time hours. Overall, we liked our visit and will be back, but hope that the next time the bathrooms will be clean and functioning and the rules related to food left out and noise will be enforced. This place has great potential!

We spent two days at Lake Tahoe and booked this available spot last-minute. At first, I considered writing something “negative,” but that wouldn’t be fair – it wouldn’t reflect the experience accurately. For us personally, the campground felt a bit lively and busy. But to be fair, it’s clearly designed as a family-oriented campground, and that’s exactly what it delivers – so this should not be seen as a downside. The campground is large, the staff is extremely friendly, and someone was always available to help or answer questions. The team puts a lot of effort into creating a great experience, especially for families. There’s a pool, lots of activities for children of all ages, and even a fun evening bike parade around the campground. The owners are clearly passionate about what they do, and the whole concept is very well thought out and executed. If you’re looking for a quieter, more secluded spot, this may not be the right campground for you – but if you’re traveling with children or enjoy an active campground vibe, this is an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended for families!

Lovely park with easy access to everything. Big sites with lots of shade. The restrooms and showers were very clean. Highly recommend this campground.

We had a fantastic time at Tahoe Valley Campground! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and helped make our stay amazing. Check in was a breeze through the online portal. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. The laundry was also very clean, updated, and had the option to pay with card which was very convenient! There is a very large dog park filled with trees, benches, and lots of room for the dogs to play. There were also various trails throughout that were pleasant to walk through. The site we stayed at was good and level. We had no issues with our electric, water or sewer. Overall a great experience! We will stay here again next time we are in South Tahoe!

We arrived Monday without a reservation and it was after 4PM so the office had just closed. They were very welcoming and gave us a couple choices of empty spaces and said we could just come settle up our account the next morning. I appreciate how welcome all of the staff made us feel and that they trusted us. We woke early the next morning and wanted to go explore SLT but also felt weird about not having paid yet. Didn't want them thinking we just skipped off. So we called the emergency contact number at 7AM and offered to pay over the phone with a cc. And the guy was so kind! He said no problem, just go have fun exploring and come back when we are ready. Super above and beyond kindness and generosity. We explored a few hours and came back at 1130AM to settle up and buy what we needed from their well-stocked camp store. We appreciated the heated bathrooms and instant hot water in the showers. Highly recommend this campground and the nice folks who run it. Cheers!

We’ve stayed in the cabins there three times while visiting SLT. The rooms are clean each time and we cant wait to go back. The staff is friendly and helps with whatever is needed. The location is fantastic to walk to the restaurants and SLT has so much to offer. Look at the trees, enjoy some r and r ,its cozy, clean, therapeutic for your soul. Love it.

We drove in late night (after hours) without reservations and when we called the after hours phone, they were very accommodating and allowed us to stay. The registration process was completed the next morning and very easy. There is plenty of space to park our RV and the location has everything you need for an RV. Highly recommend.
