Overview

Take-It-Easy Campground serves as a tranquil escape in the heart of St. Mary’s County, Maryland. This family-owned destination emphasizes a relaxed atmosphere where mature trees and open spaces provide a classic camping experience. It is a place where the pace of life slows down to match its name.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Callaway, the campground is surrounded by the scenic beauty of Southern Maryland. The landscape is defined by its proximity to major waterways, including the St. Mary’s River and the Chesapeake Bay. The surrounding area is a blend of agricultural land and dense woodlands, providing a beautiful backdrop for morning walks and evening sunsets.

The sites are designed to be big-rig friendly, offering enough space for larger coaches to navigate and settle in comfortably under the shade of the forest canopy.

We had an excellent experience at Take It Easy Campground, where we stayed on a monthly basis for approximately seven months. From start to finish, the staff was super friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating, which made a long-term stay feel easy and comfortable. We stayed in the C Loop, and it was consistently clean, quiet, and well maintained. The campground is a great option for anyone who is contracting on base or in temporary housing while transitioning between places. It truly felt like a stress-free home base during our stay. The maintenance crew deserves special recognition. They were very responsible and proactive, especially during the winter months—making sure our water was properly insulated, keeping the grounds clean, and helping with anything we needed related to our RV. Anytime we had a question or needed assistance, someone was always there and willing to help. The front office staff was just as wonderful—always friendly, responsive, and accommodating. You could really tell they care about their guests and take pride in the campground. Overall, this is a fantastic place for a monthly or long-term stay, and we would definitely stay here again if we ever needed another extended rental. Highly recommended for comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding staff.

Acreage wise, a nice quite campground all around. Very well maintained with clean bath and shower rooms. Free wi-fi. A nice size pool. A large playground for the kids and new outdoor gym equipment. A small pond for fishing and if your a walker, a great place to get your walk on. A nice dog park too and package delivery is available. Large area for tent campers with lots of beautiful oak trees that are gorgeous in the fall. John, the head maintenance man is one of the kindest, hardest working persons I think I've ever met. If they were to lose him, they'd be up a creek without a paddle. The size of the campground alone requires a massive amount of physical labor. Just sayin... to me it is obvious who keeps the place looking so great. If your just looking for a quick over night stop or a long term stay (maybe your a contractor working at the nearby naval base) this is a quite campground with little to no issues. The reason for the 4 stars is because imo, the camp lots are way too close together. All back-in. No pull-throughs. Other than that, a nice campground.

This place is absolutely amazing, from Taylor at the desk and big John running the place. Taylor will help you with everything from start to finish including marking and saving your spot, to showing you the best way to get there, and of course customer service with a smile. You will feel welcomed and appreciated here. John will go out of his way to help and assist you with anything. John does so much around here and is never too busy to help you, talk to you, or pet your dog! This team, Taylor and John, will help you with all your needs! This park even has a pond to sit by or fish, play grounds for the young ones, and even an outdoor exercise facility, swimming pool, and fenced dog park. And of course electricity, water, sewage, laundry, and internet. This place is a little piece of heaven on earth.

I have been trying to get in touch with the owner of this establishment for weeks and the young lady Taylor in the office has been rude, nasty and down right disrespectful at times. She will not allow my message to be passed to any manager or anyone above her it’s absolutely ridiculous. I was invited here by a family member of the owner this is very poor service… a lot of drama. The young lady Taylor after asking around the community bands people from the pool at her choosing, without speaking to management or owner. This place is becoming a joke.
