Tamerlane Campground

Overview

Tamerlane Campground offers a peaceful retreat nestled in the heart of Cape May County. This family-owned and operated destination provides a perfect blend of tranquil wooded sites and modern conveniences, making it an ideal base for exploring the Jersey Shore. Known for its clean facilities and welcoming community atmosphere, the park allows visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of New Jersey’s southern peninsula while remaining close to the region's most popular activities.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Cape May Court House, the campground is strategically located away from the heavy traffic of the primary beach towns but within a short drive of the Atlantic coast. The property is surrounded by lush mature shade trees, providing a cool canopy and a sense of privacy during the warm summer months. Its convenient position offers easy access to the Garden State Parkway, simplifying travel for those arriving from various metropolitan areas.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed with recreation and comfort in mind, featuring a sparkling in-ground swimming pool that serves as a central hub for summer fun. Guests have access to various on-site facilities:

  • Basketball court and shuffleboard
  • Horseshoe pits and a playground
  • Indoor game room for rainy days

Practical needs are met with full hookup RV sites, clean restrooms with hot showers, and a convenient laundry room to ensure a comfortable stay for short-term and long-term visitors alike.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the biggest draws for visitors is the proximity to the Cape May County Park & Zoo, which is just minutes away and offers a fantastic day trip for all ages. Those looking for sand and surf can reach the pristine beaches of Stone Harbor and Avalon within a ten-minute drive. Additionally, a short excursion south leads to the world-famous Wildwood Boardwalk or the historic Victorian district of Cape May, known for its unique architecture.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is best for families and retirees seeking a quiet coastal home base rather than a high-energy resort. It appeals strongly to travelers who value a wooded, natural setting but still want the convenience of proximity to major South Jersey attractions. Because it offers a mix of seasonal residents and overnight travelers, it fosters a friendly community feel, making it perfect for those planning an extended vacation in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.

This was our first time at Tanber Lane and they have gained campers for life. We have stayed at other campgrounds in the past and this on far surpassed all of them. Can not say enough of how the staff was super accommodating and friendly. Answered all my questions and handled all inquiries about future registrations with a smile on their faces. The pool was very nice and well kept. Seasonal campers extremely friendly and made us feel welcome and not like outsiders like other places have. Some campgrounds we have been to in the past actually segregate us and label. Us as “tenters”. Have booking for this October and can’t wait to get back😃

We HIGHLY recommend Tamerlane Campground. From the moment we entered the premises, it felt like we were home. Everyone from the staff to the community was amazing and welcoming. The grounds were well maintained, clean, and easy to navigate. If you're considering a place to stay...this is it! Thank you so much, until next time! -Shawn

What is Tamerlane? It’s the place country songs sing about. It’s the construction of Poguelandia that everyone envisions. Yet, most of all Tamerlane is a family! I am grateful to have some of my greatest memories at Tamerlane. As a kid I enjoyed every weekend being here with my family and meeting new friends. Best of all the family that runs this campground cares greatly about its people. If you are looking for the Bel Air of campgrounds; this is not the place. But if you are looking for a place that has great people and great relationships then this is the place for you! Stop by any site and I guarantee someone is willing to have a drink with you or say hello!
