Tanbark Campground offers a quiet, wooded retreat for travelers exploring the scenic landscapes of Middle Tennessee. Located just a short distance from primary travel corridors, this park provides a peaceful alternative to the hustle of nearby metropolitan areas. The property is widely recognized for its mature hardwood trees and lush canopy, which provide significant shade for campers during the warmer months. The atmosphere here is intentionally low-key, focusing on a connection with nature and a relaxed pace of life for every visitor.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the charming town of Dickson, TN, the campground enjoys a prime location that balances rural seclusion with modern convenience. It is positioned far enough from major roads to ensure a quiet night of sleep, yet it remains easily accessible for travelers navigating Interstate 40. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills and dense forests, offering a quintessential Tennessee backdrop. Visitors will find local grocery stores and dining options just a few miles away in the heart of the community.

Additionally, the park serves as an excellent base for day trips into Nashville, allowing guests to explore the Grand Ole Opry before retreating to the stillness of the campground.

Who This Park Is Best For

Tanbark Campground is best suited for RVers who prioritize a serene and rustic environment over the crowded amenities of a high-traffic resort. It is a fantastic choice for road trippers seeking a well-maintained overnight stop that feels deep in the woods. Because of its quiet nature and proximity to nature preserves, it also appeals to birdwatchers and nature lovers who want to wake up to the sounds of the forest rather than the sounds of the city.

Great stop for an overnight driving across country. Right off I-40 for convenience, but be very careful turning left into campground as there is a blind turn ahead and dangerous. Very quiet and beautiful grounds for walking our dog. Mainly fulltimers, but we had a pull through and didn’t have to unhook tow vehicle which was convenient for overnight. Kind hosts and would stay again passing through.

Perfect stop going I-40 West. Had great pull-through spot. Were even able to keep hooked up to Jeep for ease of leaving next morning. Would definitely stay again!

Great location, family owned & operated. The woman who runs the check in is so kind, and she really stays on top of the place to keep it very well maintained. Impressed with this campground- better spots here than some thousand trails campgrounds !

We needed something for one night and they had a tent site available at almost 10pm. We showed up, checked in, and set up within 15 min! Very clean and quiet. Bath house clean with hot showers. Just text the owner and they were responsive almost immediately. Right off the highway too.

Great location just off the main Hwy. Clean, countryside site & everyone we met was extremely friendly & loved our dog who was eager to meet them all. Nice clean restrooms. Thank you for your hospitality.
