Whitten Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is a premier outdoor destination situated along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Fulton, Mississippi. This park is widely recognized for its well-maintained facilities and scenic vistas of the Jamie Whitten Lock and Dam. Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend by the water or a basecamp for exploring the natural beauty of Northeast Mississippi, this park offers a serene atmosphere that captures the essence of riverfront living.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled among mature hardwoods and pines, the park provides a lush canopy that offers ample shade and privacy for visitors. Its location on the Tenn-Tom Waterway makes it a hub for aquatic activity, while the surrounding terrain is relatively flat and easy to navigate. The proximity to the lock provides a unique opportunity to watch massive barges and recreational vessels transition through the waterway system, creating a fascinating backdrop for your stay in the Fulton area.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features approximately 60 spacious campsites, most of which are equipped with water and electric hookups and level concrete pads. Guests have access to essential facilities including clean bathhouses with hot showers, laundry units, and a convenient dump station. For recreation, the park offers a multi-lane boat ramp, multiple playgrounds for children, and picnic shelters perfect for group gatherings. Many sites are positioned directly along the shoreline, offering unobstructed views of the sunset over the water.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is a primary draw here, with the waterway teeming with bass, crappie, and catfish. Boaters can spend days exploring the miles of navigable water accessible right from the park. A short drive into Tupelo allows visitors to tour the Elvis Presley Birthplace or explore the Natchez Trace Parkway. Locally, the town of Fulton offers charming shops and dining, while the nearby Tishomingo State Park provides rugged hiking trails and unique rock formations for those seeking a more active adventure.

Good park. Bathrooms old but clean. The sites are quite higgly piggly due to the terrain and some are pretty close together.

This is a very pretty park. It has nice hiking trails deep into the woods with lots of foliage. Some of the sites are difficult to back into so be careful which ones you select by looking at the park map. There is a playground here lots of sports Courts. The bathrooms are very clean and it’s right next to alike or river actually. At night, we could hear some big pump engines running perhaps at the nearby marina but the low of those engines was a little annoying. It stopped before midnight. We had 50 amp service with water at our site 57. There were lots of classes parked in loop one we were in loop three and we’re quite happy with our 31 foot trailer and a truck fitting nicely.

We camped in Site012 are Whitten Park in January 2025, and we couldn't be happier about our stay. Keep in mind we were the only visitors at this time. Restrooms were well maintained and very clean, dump station was easily accessible, and the views were FANTASTIC! The campground is pet friendly and easy to maneuver your RV through. We will be back!

Very nice park with most sites heavily wooded. Each site has a mostly level cement pad, large picnic area with fire pit, grill, picnic table, and lantern hook. 50/30 amp and water at each site. Many sites overlook the water. There is a path that runs along the shoreline, ending at the beach. There are several fishing piers, gazebo and a swing along the path. Fishing piers are dated. There are 3 loops, each with a shower and flush toilets. Dump conveniently located near the exit.

I absolutely loved it. It's right on the water, the camp Host Anita and Jackie, we're so awesome, but anyone I talked to in the booth was awesome. I just had the best time here. Thank you, everybody.
