The Cedars RV Resort
Overview
The Cedars RV Resort offers a peaceful, woodland escape tucked away in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Unlike standard roadside stops, this park functions as a private gated community where towering evergreen trees provide a sense of privacy and natural beauty. It successfully balances the comforts of a managed resort with the rugged charm of Whatcom County, making it a reliable and scenic base for exploring the northern reaches of Washington State.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Ferndale, just north of Bellingham, the resort is ideally placed for those traveling along the I-5 corridor. Despite its convenient proximity to the highway, the dense old-growth cedar trees and lush ferns create a quiet buffer that makes the park feel like a secluded forest retreat. The surrounding landscape features a mix of fertile farmland and coastal vistas, providing a serene backdrop for your stay.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for both long-term stays and seasonal visits. Guests have access to a spacious clubhouse that serves as a central social hub, complemented by a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and clean laundry facilities. For active travelers, the resort includes a basketball court and a playground, while the paved roads and secure gated entry provide a safe environment for afternoon walks and cycling beneath the thick forest canopy.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities nearby. The scenic Birch Bay State Park is only a short drive away, offering miles of shoreline for beachcombing and tide-pooling. For those who prefer the mountains, the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest provides world-class hiking and skiing opportunities. Additionally, the nearby Silver Reef Casino and the historic Fairhaven district in Bellingham offer unique shopping and dining experiences.
Who This Park Is Best For
This resort is an excellent choice for extended-stay travelers and retirees who appreciate a quiet, community-oriented atmosphere. Its secure, gated environment and natural surroundings make it a favorite for those who prefer a lush residential vibe rather than a transient campground experience. It is also perfectly positioned for cross-border travelers looking for a comfortable and stable home base near the Canadian border.

We’ve been very pleased with our stay at Cedars RV Resort! The outdoor pool is a huge hit, especially on sunny days, and there’s a great kids’ play area to keep the little ones happy (and burn off all that energy). The grounds are well-maintained, giving the whole place a clean and welcoming feel. The staff are friendly and helpful—always a plus when you’re away from home. WiFi is available (for those who still have emails to check by the pool), and the on-site coin laundry makes extended stays much easier. All in all, a fantastic spot for families or anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable RV experience. Would definitely recommend!

We are full-time RVers. We spent 2 months at The Cedars RV Resort is located in a small town in northern Washington…but close to Bellingham and best of all ONLY minutes to the Canadian Border! Laid back lifestyle coupled with lots of great activities is THE THING! We have enjoyed trips into Canada to discover wineries. This past weekend we took a 2 hour boat ride to see the islands just off the coast. We had a day stop in Friday Harbor located in the San Juan Island chain! Great food and drink…shopping and amazing scenery.

Such a disappointing experience trying to get into here! We wanted a month as we sold our home, and wanted to decide in month what to do next. The lady was so nice at first & was then told I was putting them in a bind by asking if they had room for us, which they previously said yes. They were very rude to my husband & I. Have no idea why, we filled out paperwork as told too. We needed an answer for a spot as we were out of house in a week. We drove over. Closed. I would never step foot in there again. It has good reviews but I’m telling you we had a bad experience. So beware! We’ve stayed in my Rv parks in Yuma as a snowbird, never been talked to like this.

Felt private because of the cedar borders. Loved watching the bunnies. Convenient laundry and location was perfect for our stay.

This place is AMAZING! I had a problem with my inverter in my RV and thought it was the resort electrical system that had a problem. In literally 2 minutes, a staff member was at my site to take a look at everything and even gave me some cues as to what to replace to make sure the problem with my inverter does not come back. Awesome customer service, clean and well maintained, beautiful heated pool. Thanks!
