The Homestead Trailer Park

Overview

The Homestead Trailer Park offers a peaceful lakeside getaway in the heart of Ontario's highlands. Situated on the scenic shores of Paudash Lake, this destination has been a long-standing staple for families seeking a balance between outdoor adventure and quiet relaxation. The park effectively combines a rustic woodland atmosphere with the convenience of organized camping, making it a reliable choice for those exploring the Haliburton and Bancroft regions in their RV or travel trailer.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled in the small community of Cardiff, the park is surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield. The local landscape is defined by dense mixed-wood forests, ancient rocky outcrops, and pristine water. Its strategic position on the north end of Paudash Lake provides direct access to one of the area's most popular bodies of water, known for its exceptional water clarity and diverse shoreline, offering a true northern Ontario experience away from more crowded tourist hubs.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped to handle both seasonal residents and short-term visitors looking for a weekend escape. Essential features include a large private sandy beach and a dedicated swimming area that is perfect for warm summer afternoons. Boaters appreciate the on-site docking facilities and easy lake access for launching vessels. For practical needs, the park provides clean washroom facilities and laundry services. Kids can enjoy the playground, while communal fire pits offer space for evening gatherings under the stars.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is a primary draw here, with the lake being home to a healthy population of Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout. Beyond the water, the nearby town of Bancroft is famous as the Mineral Capital of Canada, where visitors can explore unique rock shops and local heritage museums. Hikers and nature lovers can venture into Silent Lake Provincial Park, located just a short drive away, which offers extensive trail systems and stunning scenic lookouts over the highland terrain.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for family vacationers who prioritize water-based activities like kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Because of its serene environment and focus on nature, it also appeals to retirees and couples looking for a quiet seasonal retreat. Very nice, friendly, welcoming camp ground. Washrooms, etc clean and modern. Nice design, layout making it feel like a much smaller park, than it really is. Private sights, nice play grounds. Unfortunately this year water levels are incredibly down, and the lake has suffered for it. Water sports, etc. would likely be a no go.

I called last minute to book 2 sites for the weekend, Diane was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived late Friday, Diane was wonderful, she came and guided us to our site and stayed to make sure we were good. We had a great ride on our motorcycles. What a beautiful park, big lots, great owners we even had to chase them to pay them. Would recommend this park to anyone. Thank you Diane and John. We will go frogging next time.

I stayed the summer of 2025 at Homestead Park in my RV toy hauler travel trailer. The owners John and Diane were friendly, gracious, supportive, and encouraging!! Diane would call out and wave whenever she went by my site if I was sitting outside, and sometimes John would stop to chat. Their staff were great, and helped me levelling the RV, and brushing branches off the roof of the slide-out as I prepared to tow out. The residents are friendly, most are long-stay, mature, quiet, and respectful of others, and there is a great sense of community throughout. It was a wonderful summer, and I shared with Diane that I would like to return on a day site for a few days in 2026 to ride the trails there. Thank you Diane and John for a memorable summer !

Beautiful lake, great people, a delightful stay for sure. Will definitely recommend and visit again. Met a few seasonal couples and were wonderful neighbors while we stayed there.
