Thomson Lake Regional Park
Overview
Founded in 1961, Thomson Lake Regional Park holds the distinction of being the first regional park in Saskatchewan. It serves as a lush, green oasis within the southern prairies, offering a well-maintained environment for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The park is centered around a large reservoir that provides a cool respite during the warm summer months, creating a vibrant community atmosphere that draws visitors back year after year.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in South Central Saskatchewan, the park is located approximately 8 kilometers north of Lafleche and a short drive from the historic town of Gravelbourg. The surrounding landscape features rolling prairie hills and vast agricultural fields, while the park itself is a maturely treed sanctuary. The calm waters of Thomson Lake offer a stark, beautiful contrast to the open horizons, providing a scenic lakeshore setting for your RV stay.
Amenities & Park Features
RVers will find a variety of site options including full hookup sites and power-only spots, many of which are tucked among large trees for added shade and privacy. The facility is exceptionally well-equipped, featuring a 9-hole grass green golf course, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and modern washroom facilities. Families frequently gather at the large playground or the mini-golf course, while boaters take advantage of the dedicated boat launch for fishing and water sports.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the park is a destination in itself, visitors often head to nearby Gravelbourg to tour the stunning Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, known for its incredible architecture. Within the park, the network of hiking and biking trails offers excellent bird-watching opportunities. Anglers frequently visit to catch walleye and northern pike, making the reservoir a premier fishing destination for both casual and serious fishermen looking for a quiet afternoon on the water.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for family vacationers seeking a classic summer experience with plenty of activities to keep children entertained all day long. It is also a fantastic choice for golfing enthusiasts who appreciate the convenience of having a course immediately accessible from their campsite. Whether you are looking for a long-term seasonal home base or a relaxing multi-day stopover, the park offers a welcoming, community-focused vibe.

I love this place more than anything. Sometimes more than my own home... amazing staff, always looks good. Few issues as with any small community but nothing serious and I would STRONGLY recommend my summer home to all who ask!!!

Thomson Lake Regional Park is one of the nicest parks in Saskatchewan I have been to. Family friendly with an outdoor pool, concession, campground, golf course and of course fishing! Highly recommend!

While I did not use many of the amenities, it looks like a beautiful park. I only camped for one night and found the other guests in the park were extremely friendly and helpful. I arrived late and hungry. The couple beside me gave me supper 😊 Then another couple saw me leave the store empty handed and asked what I was looking for. Not only did they give me some laundry detergent, they also provided change for the machines! I couldn't be more appreciative of their kindness 💖

What an awesome place to camp. The sites are level, well maintained, there are playgrounds for kids, maintenance staff were busy around the property. This is a locale I will definitely visit again. Of course, it helped that we had beautiful weather!

Been coming here for about 7 years. Great family spot and summer home. Lots of activities from swimming at the pool to fishing, golf, mini golf or just relax and take it easy.
