Toll Bridge Park (Hood River County Park)

Overview

Toll Bridge Park serves as a tranquil base for exploring the northern base of Mount Hood. Nestled along the banks of the East Fork Hood River, this Hood River County facility offers a serene woodland setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. It provides a mix of RV and tent sites, catering to travelers who prefer a natural environment over a commercial resort atmosphere. The park is highly regarded for its spacious campsites and the constant, soothing sound of the river that flows adjacent to the campground.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the scenic Upper Hood River Valley near the charming community of Parkdale. It is surrounded by the dense canopy of the Mount Hood National Forest, offering immediate access to lush greenery and glacial river views. The elevation provides cooler temperatures during the summer months, making it a refreshing mountain escape. Travelers will find themselves immersed in a landscape characterized by towering evergreens and proximity to the region's famous agricultural belt, known for its vibrant orchards and vineyards.

Amenities & Park Features

Visitors can choose from nearly 100 campsites, including many sites equipped with water and electrical hookups for RVers. The park features essential facilities such as clean restrooms, coin-operated showers, and a sanitary dump station for convenience. Families often appreciate the on-site playground and open meadows, which provide plenty of space for children to play and for groups to gather. While the park maintains a rustic atmosphere, the presence of picnic shelters and well-maintained roads makes it accessible for various rig sizes.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the primary draws is the proximity to the Hood River County Fruit Loop, a 35-mile scenic drive featuring farm stands, wineries, and lavender fields. Outdoor enthusiasts are just a short drive from the extensive hiking trails of Mount Hood and the world-class windsurfing available at the Columbia River Gorge. Additionally, the historic Mount Hood Railroad and the local craft breweries in nearby Hood River offer diverse entertainment options for those looking to explore the local culture beyond the forest trails.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for travelers seeking a traditional camping experience without sacrificing basic comforts like electricity and water. It is perfect for families looking for a safe, natural playground and for hikers wanting a quiet home base near the mountain. If you prioritize riverside relaxation and a central location between the high mountain peaks and the river gorge, this park fits your travel style. It is less suited for those seeking luxury resort amenities like swimming pools or high-speed cable TV.

Love the Toll Bridge Park campground! We’ve been coming here for three years now during the peak of the foliage and it never gets old. The park itself is clean, family & dog friendly, and very well managed. Not to mention the beauty of the park is irresistible.

Beautiful location. Quiet. Parkdale town nearby has groceries and gas. SP has trails along Hood River. Desirable with price options for level of connectivity. No utilities..$30. We had 2 lovely nights here and would definitely come back or recommend to others.

Awesome experience at Toll Bridge Park. I almost hate to post because this seems like a well kept secret of a wonderful camping area. We loved our grassy area!

Great camping 🏕 spots. The western loop is closer to the river and farther from the road. Very friendly folks that will direct you to the best spots for your vehicle.

Amazing park and campground run by Hood River County. So much privacy and space after many months of RV parks. Shady spots and the soft sound of the Hood River running by. Mike and Laura are way more than camp hosts. They work hard keeping the park pristine and running smoothly. Definitely worth spending time getting to know them. Great nearby trails, groceries in Parkdale, restaurants in Hood River, and epic views of Mt Hood less than a half mile from the park.
