Trout Creek Motel & RV Park

Overview

Trout Creek Motel & RV Park offers a classic Montana experience for travelers exploring the Cabinet Mountain region. This facility provides a peaceful retreat that combines the convenience of a motel with the flexibility of an RV park. Situated in a region known for its rugged beauty and abundance of wildlife, the park serves as a welcoming home base for those looking to disconnect from the city and reconnect with nature in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Location & Surroundings

Located in the heart of Trout Creek, Montana, the park is surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Kootenai National Forest. The property sits near the Noxon Reservoir, a massive widening of the Clark Fork River that defines the local geography. Visitors are treated to views of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, providing a dramatic backdrop for morning coffee or evening walks. The area is famous for being the huckleberry capital, offering a lush, green setting throughout the summer months.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV facilities are designed to accommodate modern rigs while maintaining a rustic feel. Guests have access to essential features including:

  • Full hookup sites featuring both 30 and 50-amp electrical service.
  • Spacious pull-thru sites that make arrivals and departures easy for larger motorhomes and trailers.
  • On-site laundry facilities and well-maintained shower houses.

These features ensure a comfortable stay for long-term travelers or weekenders alike.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities just minutes from the park. The Noxon Reservoir is a premier destination for fishing, particularly for those seeking northern pike, smallmouth bass, and walleye. For hikers, the nearby trailheads lead deep into the Cabinet Mountains, offering breathtaking vistas and alpine lakes. During the late summer, visitors can join locals in foraging for wild huckleberries in the surrounding hills, which is a quintessential Northwest Montana tradition.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for anglers and hunters who need a reliable and quiet staging ground for their outdoor adventures. It also appeals to road-trippers and slow travelers who prefer a no-frills, authentic atmosphere over high-traffic corporate resorts. Felt like a $60/night room. Towels are old, small and worn out. Bed was pretty solid, pillows were flat. I feel like they should have "off season" rates. Was the only person there the night we stayed. Check-in was easy - no need to talk to anyone (and no-one was there anyway!) They called to confirm all the details right after I made the reservation through their website, and all info was provided in the confirmation e-mail. Good service, but their rooms could use some updating and small upgrades to make it more comfortable and like it's worth the money paid for it. Also, the rooms were not very quiet...train and traffic noise were very audible all night.

We stayed at the Motel on a last minute trip through the area. Very good value for your money. It is older, but well taken care of and decorated cute. You can check in contact free. I was also pleasantly surprised by the coffee pot and can of Folgers coffee in the cabinet. What a treat that they haven’t switched over to standard hotel coffee. Cons: road noise and train…. Though that’s hard to get away from in narrow valleys.

Wonderful customer service! Beautiful RV park! We had to change our reservations from rv to motel and back again and they were so helpful and kind. My boys loved seeing the deer all around and walking around the rv park. It’s become our new annual tradition to stay there every September. The rv park is well kept!

This was our first time staying at this RV park but it will not be our last. The sites were beautiful and we really loved having full hookups. Rob, the owner, was very helpful and gave us great information for fishing. Definitely recommend this park for anyone visiting the Trout Creek area.

I stayed a week in this lovely, quiet location. It was very green and lush, which was a nice change from the drought we have been in. You’re allowed to have campfires which was a joy. The local store, yes that is what it’s called. They had decent grocery prices and there were two gas station options. The owner was very helpful and provided great communication. I would recommend staying there if you’re in the area. You will not be disappointed.
