Tucker Park
Overview
Tucker Park is a county-managed destination that offers a natural and wooded setting along the banks of the Hood River. Unlike the more exposed campsites found closer to the interstate, this park provides a sense of seclusion and tranquility under a canopy of mature trees. It serves as a peaceful basecamp for RVers who want to experience the authentic beauty of the Pacific Northwest while remaining close to the region's famous recreational corridors and agricultural hubs. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, reflecting the outdoor-centric lifestyle of the local community.
Location & Surroundings
Located approximately five miles south of the city of Hood River, the park is nestled within the scenic Hood River Valley. The primary draw is the crystal-clear river frontage, which provides a constant soundtrack of rushing water throughout the grounds. The surrounding landscape transitions from the lush forests of the Cascades to the productive orchards and vineyards that define this area. Its position allows for easy navigation to the Mount Hood National Forest to the south or the wind-swept cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge to the north.
Amenities & Park Features
The park accommodates RV travelers with nearly 100 sites, many of which are designed to provide a high level of privacy. While there are no sewer connections, many sites are equipped with electric and water hookups to support comfortable stays. On-site facilities include:
- Flush toilets and coin-operated showers for guest convenience.
- A playground area and multiple picnic spots for family gatherings.
- Designated river access points for fishing and wading.
- Fire rings and picnic tables at every individual campsite.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventures are plentiful just outside the park gates. Visitors are minutes away from the Hood River Fruit Loop, a famous 35-mile scenic drive featuring farm stands, lavender fields, and hard cideries. For the active traveler, the area is a mecca for world-class kiteboarding and windsurfing on the Columbia River. Hiking enthusiasts can find trails ranging from easy orchard walks to strenuous climbs up nearby peaks, while the town of Hood River offers an array of award-winning craft breweries and local boutiques.
Who This Park Is Best For
Tucker Park is an ideal choice for travelers who prefer a rustic, park-like atmosphere over the amenities of a luxury resort. It is perfectly suited for families who enjoy playing by the water and for those who appreciate the shade of a thick forest canopy. Because it lacks full hookups, it is best for self-contained RVers who prioritize scenery and a central location for exploring the Gorge. If you are looking for a quiet, tree-shaded retreat that captures the spirit of Oregon camping, this park fits the bill.

It's a nice park but, to get down to the river is a little dangerous. You have to climb down over boulders of rocks. There has to be a safer way to get down to the river. And back up to get to your car.

I had a wonderful stay here! Great facilities, very welcoming camp hosts, gorgeous landscape. I felt safe here as a solo traveler. Enough people around, but also nice privacy. Would definitely return!

Glad a found this spot. Enough miles off the highways to be quiet. There’s a pay machine for sites. My site while river front was about 40’ up, and was $30 instead of the advertised $40. There’s just enough forest between sites for some privacy. Bathrooms clean. The river is running fast but found a pool to cold plunge in in the morning. Trails are limited to the one river entrance and the access road has some traffic so not a whole lot of space to wonder. Had a water fill next to my site so filled my van before leaving. Awesome spot.

One of our favorite campgrounds on our road trip! The sites right by the creek are absolutely beautiful. From our spot, we could walk over the larger rocks straight into the creek and enjoy the sunshine and peace while sitting on a stone. The site was spacious and felt very private. We were even able to hang our hammock between the trees right next to the water. The toilets and showers were okay – not perfectly clean, but acceptable. Showers operate with coins, but they’re inexpensive. Overall, a wonderful place – we even decided to stay an extra night!

This is hands down one of my favorite camp sites for the Mt. Hood area. The riverside sites, specifically Pine and Oak cannot be beaten. The restrooms are always clean and stocked, will absolutely come here again!
