Turner Falls Park

Went to Turner Falls for the first time on 8/6/25 and was honestly very disappointed. There was so much trash everywhere along the river, around the falls, and throughout the campground areas. This wasn’t just a bit of litter here and there, it was trash that had clearly been there for a while embedded in the dirt, stepped on repeatedly. It was really depressing. The falls themselves are stunning, and the river has a magical feel, but the area has been completely disrespected. As someone who backpacks and follows Leave No Trace principles, it was genuinely heartbreaking to see such a beautiful place treated this way. :( Also, for the price of admission, you’d expect the grounds to be better maintained. It’s a real shame. I wish more people and those managing the park would treat this place with the care it deserves.

Great stay! We were in Bunkhouse 4, which included a private bathhouse just behind us. The bunkhouse and bathrooms were clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. We locked ourselves out at one point and staff was very quick to respond. There was an endless amount of spots to swim and set up picnic. It was pretty crowded during the day, which is pretty normal for a weekend visit, but very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Would definitely recommend for a family outing. Don’t forget your water shoes! (But if you do, there’s a gift shop with overpriced ones).

Visit during the week if at all possible. It is like a different park! Weekends are very crowded! Also, anyone under 13 must wear a life jacket. This is enforced! We stayed in cabin number nine, which is perfect walking distance to both the waterfalls or the water slides. We did the zip lining. bring all of your own food! There is a snack bar concession stand and we paid $25 for a terribly overcooked pulled pork sandwich and cafeteria style hamburger. They keep the park very clean and there is police presence which is nice. You want to bring some folding chairs to sit near the water. Some people bring their own canopies for shade when it is very crowded. Bring good gripping water shoes, the rocks are slippery!

Turner falls is beautiful! So much to do. Great trip. The hiking is beautiful and the falls are so pretty. Great swimming. It CHILLY water and it was great on a hot day. We got there at opening and it was worth it to hike before it got too hot and then have plenty of choice where to set up to swim. Bring all your things, chairs, food, coolers, shade, etc. lots of parking. Only complaint was how rude the lady at the gate was. I wish we would have bought tickets there to save on the fees online.

Turner Falls Park is an amazing natural getaway! The 77-foot waterfall is absolutely breathtaking, and the swimming spots are perfect for cooling off on a hot day. There are plenty of hiking trails and picnic areas that make it great for a family day out or a peaceful solo adventure. The park is well-maintained, with friendly staff and nice amenities like restrooms and camping options. Whether you’re into nature, photography, or just relaxing outdoors, Turner Falls is definitely worth the trip!

A very simple park with short, easy trails. Don't try to exaggerate the hiking experience. We did the entire park in just over an hour. Went during the winter, so the entrance fee was worth it and it wasn't crowded. I cannot imagine this place being very exciting during the summer, when admission fees are up and the place is filled with people. Honestly, I wish the roads didn't go so far into the park. All the vehicles and unnecessary roads kill the scenery. Felt like a city park that happens to have a somewhat impressive waterfall. I hope it can be expanded, because there's great potential for more serious hiking and camping in the area. For now, this place is nothing compared to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge, and I've been all through out both parks. The place really did have quite a bit of litter. To me, this is a testament to the types of people who camp here. Just, visit during the winter to avoid most of the trash.

Last summer, my summer camp took all of us to Turner Falls. I live down in Dallas Texas, so I had no idea what this place was. Turns out, it was amazing. When we were in the big pool, there was a kid who would not want to jump off the diving board. The whole pool was cheering this kid on to jump off (Note: he was around 4-5 years old I think) Once he did, the whole place erupted and everyone was so happy. Great slides, people there are amazing.

It's okay. Not much to do if you're not camping

A true low key natural beauty and fun gem! Some of the facilities are a little older and slightly run down, but staff keep the property immaculate. About a 5 hour drive from Houston... great for a long camping weekend. Highly recommended for families. If you bring kids... Don't forget to bring life jackets for kids. I will recommend to friends. Another plus, most signage is in English and Spanish.
